Who here has a pistol can? and are you satisfied enough with reliability to use it for home defense?

First, I think the sound and flash moderation are a great idea for home defense. However, no matter what host firearm: I personally can not achieve reliability high enough that I would use this for self defense. My can has a booster, and I'm using full power ammo, and I can't shoot a box of 50...

Out of curiosity, what do you think is happening mechanically that would cause unreliable extraction with the riding of the slide?

Don't forget a helmet, and a shield, and shin guards!

I had them on and off for the first 6mo or so after I started carrying. Bullets would come out really slow and hit the bad guy and fall on the ground. It'll fade eventually....

I just shoot paper at 25yds, make an adjustment and move out to 100yds. I mean you could shoot paper at 7yds if you wanted to, still cheaper than a boresighter...

Try pouring cold water on it to get it back to cold bore temps (something I've wanted to try for a while but haven't gotten around to). And if it works, let me know, cause you could get some cold bore work done in an hurry...

I vote for: proceed forward with the 7mm-08 Spend the money you've got on a range finder. Then go practice for the ranges you're thinking you might need and find out what you're capable of. ...And it's probably going to be really windy.

Sounds like a good idea, the way my safe is mounted, there is one side that's vunerable to fire axe attack! It just wouldn't look very good...

I bring a cup of water w/ me when I shoot (pistol), and every mag change I dunk the can about half way (w/ the slide back, or water really doesn't get in) and give it a shake. Works pretty good, the difference is dramatic, and it's not like it's hard, you just dunk and shake it out...
