The GSG-5 goes the way of the dodo

Yeah, I knew about the MR556 at least, those are a start. I still won't support them though, nor Colt.

The GSG-5 goes the way of the dodo

I wouldn't say it's completely incorrect, that's exactly their attitude towards civilians. Some H&K rifles and 416 uppers did make it into the hands of some civilians, but only briefly. They could easily make semi-auto versions of their rifles for civilians and make them readily available, but...

I just picked this one up: As far as H&K goes:

    looking for first handgun!

From your list of requirements, my recommendations, except for "knockdown power" since handguns aren't normally powerful enough to knock people down... Also, it depends on whether you are going to carry or not regarding the size you should get. Semi-auto: - Glock 17 or 19 - Smith &...

Whats the Next Gun you plan to Buy?

A cheap but good 1911, possibly from the gun show this weekend. Probably looking at a RIA, STI Spartan, or Firestorm/American Classic II.

School me or link me, please: basic info on shotgun ammo...

Don't use birdshot man, go with 00 buck. The only time I think you should consider birdshot is if you live in an apartment or condo. I live in a condo and still have 00 buck for my shotgun, though. It's still not going to penetrate like a handgun round would.

    Glock 19 question?

Maybe the Glock 17 would fit you better, otherwise you could look for a Generation II model without the finger grooves. You could also dremel off the finger grooves and the bottom of the trigger guard. There are some places that may do it for you, like Bowie Tactical Concepts.

South Florida / Miami - Ft. Lauderdale THR shoot

I'm actually planning to go to Trail Glades tomorrow morning to check out the IDPA there, and might shoot some skeet afterwards. Sunday is out for me, because my daughter's baptism is that day.

South Florida / Miami - Ft. Lauderdale THR shoot

I found information for another outdoor range, but it's WAY down there in BFE: Henry's Private Range open to the public in Homestead From Krome Avenue: Krome to Mowry Drive, go West on Mowry all the way to the end. Go across SW 217 Avenue westbound on dirt road. The road splits in front of...

    Chrome slide for g17

You could just keep your factory slide and buy something like a Caspian slide for the Glock.

South Florida / Miami - Ft. Lauderdale THR shoot

I'm down for that. I'm in Miami, and usually go to Trail Glades, but I can make it as far up to Markham Park as well.

How to get rid of scratches on Stainless Steel slide?

If it's polished stainless steel, try Flitz and some elbow grease.

Sellier & Bellot ammo, any good??

One of the local indoor ranges doesn't allow Sellier & Bellot, because according to them, they ricochet too much. Other than that, I have heard that it is fine clean shooting ammo.

Tell me the difference between the trigger on an XD...

Personally, I like the Glock trigger better. It has a very short trigger reset allowing for faster follow up shots. Also, it's very easy to work on the trigger yourself and buy the parts for it. The XD trigger to me felt kind of cheap and has a longer trigger reset.

    Sig 220 Black or Stainless?

I like the two-tone Sig 220s. The discontinued stainless model is heavier than the other models, so take that into consideration. Also, there are different trigger types available (DA/SA, DAK, SAO), so decide which one you may want.

Glocks are they to be trusted

Glocks are the only guns that I would carry right now and trust my life to every day.

    "...but Glocks aren't safe!"

I agree that it is most likely user error if there is an AD/ND from pulling the trigger before field stripping a Glock. However, one of the persons mentioned that shot himself in the hand thought that he was following rule #1 and checking to see that it wasn't loaded, but he unfortunately...

    "...but Glocks aren't safe!"

Of course, but with some carelessness, a negligent discharge CAN happen, as in the two cases Cousin Mike mentioned about the guy on glocktalk who shot himself in the hand or the DEA guy. They pulled the trigger without making absolute sure that the chamber was clear of ammunition, whether they...
