What is the last gun that you bought?

Ruger 10/22 Started looking to buy a 10/22 for my daughter, bought mine back in the 90's - I am amazed at how many varieties there are now. Ever since Bill died Ruger has been going crazy  I am in the process of changing out the synthetic stock for a nice old wood one.

    AR build in 30-30? Anyone?

As they say - there's nothing new under the sun..I have thrown in the towel, given up the ghost and generally called it quits. My cup is empty, my geese have flown and my horses no longer held. All is lost. Thank you all for an entertaining debacle.

    AR build in 30-30? Anyone?

Yes. It is the basic issue.

    AR build in 30-30? Anyone?

I actually did if you look...and I never started (the build that is) - I was looking for input as a matter curiosity. Surely you don't mind if I answer people's posts? Besides - I have the one, and I don't want the other even though they do appeal. But you are welcome to buy one or the other...

    AR build in 30-30? Anyone?

See above. I did look at it since I assumed that many of the issues a bolt 30-30 would encounter would apply. Their design didn't make me too happy with the prospect however :P And I don't think the issues of the .44 Mag are as pressing as those of a tapered rimmed round. Not that I don't...

    AR build in 30-30? Anyone?

:) Have to smile browningguy, but a reason or two would be nice. And Mistwolf - I felt the rim to be the main issue - I had kind of hoped that someone would come up with a solution. I had looked at the Savage method for dealing with the magazine issue, and no, I don't want to do a ton of work...

    AR build in 30-30? Anyone?

Ok, so I did a little reading on the OSSM and like most super shorts there is a lot of talk about the value of short and fat which I won't deny, but there seem to be a few issues with accuracy. They don't seem to be short on fun though, but as with most wildcat rounds they will have to garner a...

    looking for a SKS

"Main negative with a Yugo is lack of chrome lined chamber and barrel -- if you don't plan on shooting corrosive ammo its not really an issue." A valid point - I don't shoot mine a lot and so buy decent ammo. But then again, I own and shoot and clean my early (and Yugo) Mausers with a bunch of...

    AR build in 30-30? Anyone?

I have some experience with Oly Arms and it wasn't all bad. A great barrel amongst other things, but rarity of the round I would like to avoid. I may just find that the issues surrounding feeding and extracting are enough to nix the project and that's ok, but I'd like to give it a fair shake...

    AR build in 30-30? Anyone?

Length is one of the things I was looking for direction on, but these rifles are built in every conceivable caliber - I wasn't just going to say no way is that possible just because of a chamber size. Every caliber build has its issues. The .308 I thought about but the 30-30 is a very mild...

    looking for a SKS

SKS's are going for more than I would have thought on GB these days. Any particular reason you are looking at the Chinese versions as opposed to the Yugo for example? That may find you one you hadn't expected and a decent milled receiver at that.

    AR build in 30-30? Anyone?

I am starting out on a new build and I plan to consider all options. This may have been covered elsewhere and if so - please by all means point the way - I just haven't found it yet after looking. At first I thought to build your basic 7.62x39 mainly because of cost and ballistics, but...

Do you know what a FUDD is?Do we have many

I think that thinking of others as members of an "anti-gun crowd" does what those who are radically opposed to ownership do. 1911 was saying just that. There is a scale from 0-100 and if we apply the same approach all the way along it until we come to us we are simply adopting the George...

    Best Vehicle Handgun?

High humidity? Maybe you should think through the humidity problem a little. If this sits in the truck without being used in a high humidity area, how reliable does the ammo become? I go through it quickly so I couldn't say but it seems to come up now and again...

    Anyone reload .218 Bee?

Well I went to find out just where I had seen these different lengths for cases and had assumed that I would find the older data to be different than the new. On the net I see that Wikipedia, Chuck Hawk and Steve's Pages all show 1.345" max length. My old NRA reloading guide from '81 gives...

    Anyone reload .218 Bee?

For those of you who have reloaded - I inherited a Winchester 43 in 218 and find that there are a couple of different lengths stated for the brass - anyone pretty clear on max length for them? I would guess that fire forming the 25-20 runs into this question. In the Winchester, the length is my...

    Thoughts on Rifle Slings...

Back to the top - the M1907 has always worked for me and I like the heavier leather for durability as well. It's solid and versatile.

Scopechief IV-DM from Busnell - info needed

For the next guy... For the sake of the next guy that buys one w/out the mounts - the cross section of the tube is not round, the top is double-thick, then steps down and then there is a rail on the bottom like an inverted weaver rail. The diameter - if it were round - which it ain't, is...

What is the last gun that you bought?

Winchester 100 in .308. Not exactly new, but it has now found a good home where it is much loved and fondled constantly.

Scopechief IV-DM from Busnell - info needed

I had kinda hoped to use it for the fixed 4 power, and still may now that I'm coming to terms with defacing it :) And I understand the reticle part. The post has a tendency to pop out when it wants to rather than every time.
