    They caught a wabbit!

That is such a cute story. And a good example of how doing something very simple can lead to a great experience. I like the "Goodbye, thanks for playing" part the best. GSG

    TRAGEDY . . . WHY HIM?

First of all,my sympathy and thoughts are with your friend. That's rough. Second, I think that the tracking board is the best idea, and I hope other clubs take it up. Knowing where everyone is certainly helped keep your friend from suffering more than he did. Being safe is always very...

    Civilians at risk

I saw a discussion of this topic on another forum. One of the suggestions made there was that a series of Public Service Announcements be made dealing with safety for non-hunters during hunting seasons. I'm willing to bet a lot of hunting related businesses would support airing those on...

In U.S., women go wild for hunting

MCGunner, Traverse City is in Northern Michigan. Ted Nugent's offices and ranch are in or near Jackson, Michigan which is in the Southern part of the state. Personally, I think Northern Michigan is a beautiful place to live. Lots of hunters up here. GSG

That's great that your son was able to get some deer. Also very special that he was able to hunt with his grandfather's gun. GSG

As a woman who is just now getting interested in hunting I'm so glad to see that other women are hunting too. It is always nice to have role models. GSG

    Reuters "odd news" item...

I wouldn't think so, at least not based on their catalog and web site. I always knew they sold "hunting" accessories, caps, gloves etc. Maybe they only sell guns in the stores. I think the Maine store is the original one, so maybe they kept that one to a more hunting themed atmosphere...

    Reuters "odd news" item...

I knew more women were hunting, but not that L.L. Bean sells guns. Hunting clothes yes, but not guns. Guess you learn something new every day. GSG

    Dumb (?) Hunter education question

Guess that makes sense. I forget that many hunting instructors are volunteers. So, I guess if I wanted to get in touch with hunting instructors, the IHEA would be a good venue. Good to know. Thanks. GSG

    Dumb (?) Hunter education question

Just a question. Are all Hunting Safety Instructors required to be members of the IHEA? I think that they are, but wondered if you can teach a class without being a member. GSG

My daughter's first deer hunting season.

Congrats to her daughter on her hunt. It is great to see more girls and young women being taught how to hunt. She is lucky to have a father who will take her. GSG

Front Page Wall Street Journal Article on Hunting in Iowa

I'm not a hunter, yet, but I always like to see hunting portrayed in a positive way in the media. These hunters are participating in an activity they love and doing good at the same time. Kudos to the Wall Street Journal for pointing that out and for portraying hunters in a positive light...
