My .45 is destroying brass, should I be concerned?

A few silly questions - 1 Got a picture? Please, pix of cases, good ones of extractor, and good ones of ejector. 2 What recoil spring are you using (lb.)? 3 Are you using recoil buffers?, 4 What ammo are you shooting? 5 Is your extractor clocking (will it rotate)? What...

    Your Thoughts on the M&P 45 and/or 45c

I've got a full size .45. Pushed a lot of bullets downrange. Easy to shoot, accurate, well fitting backstraps. Only 2 items - my thumbsafety is quite easy to move to "off", and if you oil your stuff alot, pay attention to keeping the striker clean and dry. b-

    Springfield 45 Super Longslide

The factory numbers for .460 Rowland and ,45 Super are really quite close. A 22 or 24 lb. recoil spring and a small radius FPS make the Super nice to shoot, it does take a little longer to get back on target than a normal .45. The .460 "Kit" comes with a "drop-in" barrel with compensator...

Kimber - Mainspring Housing Replacement - Difficult?

It is pretty easy, but a caveman needs more parts. DO NOT just push the pin holding the cap pin in! There is a spring trying to push the cap into your face. Chuck up a screw or pin in a vice, so it sticks out horizontaly a 1/2" or so. with one hand pushing the spring cup against the vise...

    S&W M&P, Thoughts, issues

    Decision needed by dec 31st

Keep the Colt - The name is worth a lot by itself. Normally, accuracy is not a big deal to achieve - assuming you are looking for a reliable, self-defense gun with range trips to polish familiarity. If you are going to have a match barrel installed anyway, the colt will be the best value. b-

Which budget 1911 would you get - Norinco or Filipino?

Personally, I really like my Norinco. It has some new and different parts inside. I don't think I will ever part from it. b-

    1911 slide

Well, it's not REALLY important if the slide is short, you can always blend the frame to it. [yes, I've really read that] Sounds like Armscor found what Sarco used to buy. :) What IS more important might be how does the extractor fit in the CHAMBER. Where/how does it hold a round. ?? BTW I...

    Quick question about recoil...

Well - as an OLD physics teacher, I feel sad to break the bad news. What your gun has happening at you is the *same* as what is happening in the other direction. Yup, that's what 12" of penetration feels like. The shape and feel varies, but the sum is the same. Mass, momentum and leverage...

Will having more muzzle energy incapacitate faster?

One of the keys is how quickly is the available energy spent in the target. Another issue deals with the effect of supersonic hits. So the answer is both yes and no. The bigger hole, the better, and highly expanding slugs usually do best at high velocity. If you have the time to wait, the...

    Building a 1911.

If you don't start with BOTH the frame and slide oversize, you CAN do it. It CAN be done without $1000 in tools, and be reliable, and nominally accurate. I know a lot of folks, some here, who have done it.Slide on over to the forums at m1911.org for more "Can Do" attitude. b-

    Springfield 1911 -- too tight

I suggest: compare, by eye, the angle of the hammer end of the cutout for the latch, and the angle of the latch, to another gun. I surmise that one or both of the faces are not angled right. Whereas, a flick or two of a file will fix it, warranty work won't void the warranty. b-

    LIght Strikes with M&P 40

One thing that the M&P is sensitive about is crud in the firing pin channel. Strangely enough, oil in the channel just seems to suck stuff into it. A bit of a pain removing the pin and cleaning. b-
