I've had that vice for a number of years and like it a lot. It's easy to set up for any of my rifles and is very steady. When setting up a scope it's nice to put the rings in the bottom of the vice. Holds everything.
I went with the CZ 457 Varmint. I like the stock on this one the best. It's a great shooter and I think I was lucky enough to get one with good figuring on the Turkish Walnut stock.
Right now it has a Vortex 4 X 18 Crossfire II scope on it but I have a Viridian on the way that's 6 X 24. My...
I finally gave a Lyman Digital Scale to my shooting buddy. He had no idea what his pull was on a variety of guns but swore that they were in the 5 - 7 ounce range. After testing with the Lyman they came out at over 1 1/2 pounds.
He just replaced the trigger in his Savage Mark II and was...
I contacted Natchez late yesterday about the scope. Got a call this morning and they sent me FEDEX label today to send it back in for a replacement. That's great service.
I really like the way the Viridian looks and the Serac seems to be their best scope. I should have the new one in about...
I mounted my Viridian Serac on my CZ 457 Varmint but when I went to LASER sight it in the adjustments for windage and elevation did not work. I really like the scope. I sent in a request for a replacement from Natchez so, we will see what happens.
I just mounted the Viridian Serac scope to my CZ 457 Varmint and find that I really like the glass. It seems a lot better than my Vortex scope that cost around $ 250. I like the click adjustments and the locking rings ( although they feel cheap ) The rest of the scope feels good.
I just picked up a 457 Varmint as an addition to my 452 American. I'm still leaning the new rifle but it likes Wolf Match Target that I bought about 20 years ago. I still have a brick of it and I'm not wasting it. CCI-SV works well enough for plinking and sighting in. Norma TAC 22 is a bit...
Shot our monthly Steel Challenge match today with my Ruger 10/22. Had a wonderful day. Weather was perfect at 92° and not a cloud in the sky or the slightest breeze. It was my best score to date. Nothing to brag about but I'm really enjoying this little rifle. It's so much fun compared to...
Started out cleaning my 10/22, replaced the battery in my C-More Railway and loaded up 12 magazines so that I'm ready for tomorrow's Steel Challenge Match.
Mounted a new scope on my CZ 457 but I'm replacing it next week when my new scope comes from Natchez's. I've been shooting 6 X 18s but...
Bringing it all together, today I shot my CZ 457 22lr Varmint at 50 yards with CCI-SV, Eley Contact and Wolf Match Target. As you can see it does much better with the better ammunition.
I still have a number of boxes to try out but right now Wolf is looking good. Helps that I have at least...
Today I installed a Jard Trigger to my CZ 457 Varmint Rifle. I'm use to light triggers and no matter what I did with the fully adjustable trigger on this rifle the best I could do was 2 1/4 pounds. My 10/22s have better triggers so I did some research and found 4 options.
First was DIY and...
First outing CZ 457 Varmint 22lr.
CCI-SV shows promise as well as Normal TAC22 and Golden Eagle Match. I lost the program in my computer for calculating group size and MOA but I'll be able to download it gain in a little while.
I should have just kept shooting the SVs today. I really didn't...
I had to send my Black Mamba back to Volquartsen because the slide cracked and they called me and told me the barrel needed replacement. I shot mostly Blazers out of it, so it shouldn't have needed to be fixed but I guess VQ knows a lot more about it than I do.
It shoots great now. It's my...
Thanks for all the great comments.
As for shooting out a barrel it's going to take a while.
I did have to replace the barrel in my Black Mamba after only 90K rounds.
I doubt I will ever shoot that much out of this rifle. I'm too old to spend that much time at the range.
