I got my Pardner Pump Protector 12 ga. for $169+tax. I think it was about 1 1/2 years ago. I know they've gone up some since then, but I can't imagine paying $300 for one though. I haven't had any problems with mine other than not having time to practice with it.
I like my Pardner Pump Protector 12 ga. Solid construction at a great price. Don't let the "Made in China" fool you.
Like jlv08 said, people buy all sorts of stuff from China and it doesn't seem to affect their ethics in those cases.
My wife has a Mossberg 500 which is real nice and was a...
Sorry to hijack this thread. I have a 2nd gen. 1851 Colt Navy just like yours. Unfortunately, I need to get a replacement nipple (or nipples). I am unsure what size/dimensions they are. Do you or anyone else know?
If I had the money, I'd buy both of these. That Remington is sharp! Thanks.
To the OP:
First, I recommend that no matter what you do later, you should buy a .22 rifle to begin with. They're good for practice, plinking, some hunting and most importantly with the typically low to non-existent recoil, your wife will be able to learn rifle skills also. Fear of recoil is...
What type of SKS did you end up with Grassman?

I put a Hogue Hand-all grip on my C9. It was a struggle to get it on, but it sure improved how it felt in my hand. Weather has been too crummy for me to try it out unfortunately.
Get a .22 first. Any of the above suggested would be OK. I have a Mossberg Plinkster which I really like. Not everyone likes them, but it wasn't expensive. The Marlin 60 is good too.
Buy 3-4 bricks of .22 and start shooting.
Great rifle, from a country of great riflemen. Ammo is pricey but even the surplus 7.5 is quality stuff. $200 seems to be the going rate right now, so go for it!
If I am not mistaken, I believe it was a Whitney revolver that Lewis Powell used in the assassination attempt on Sec. of State Seward. It would be cool to own a repro of that model.
2nd gen. Colt 1851 Navy .36 cal.
Italian knock-off Colt .36 cal. (one of those supposed 1862 police/sheriff-types...I bought it used. That's my best guess.)
