    "New" Marlin Camp carbine .45

I agree. I think I will cut the other mount. It will blend better also because it is a matte base like the top of the receiver. Another red dot compnay, J-Point, offers a blank base which would be ideal as I could drill it to match the receiver and mount it directly to the receiver. But I...

    "New" Marlin Camp carbine .45

Well here are two pictures of the carbine with the Burris sight mounted on a standard Weaver mount. Don't really know if I like the look of this mount any better:

Ratshooter, I think I was a little confusing on the last post. What I was trying to say was that the sight is parallax free out to 50 yards, meaning as long as the dot is on the target, regardless of where the dot actually is in the sight it will hit where the dot is. Beyond that, you have to...

Many companies make them. Do an ebay or google search for "red dot reflex" and you will see a bunch of them. Many are cheap types that are better suited for paintball guns than real firearms. This company, Burris and this FastFire sight is very durable. They are made to mount on most weapons...

Ratshooter, Yeah I heard about Casey Casem doing Scooby years ago. Have you ever seen his wife? She is like a 6' blonde! Anyway, I'm glad you like the setup. I hope the rail will satisfy me aesthetically. I'm starting to like the one in the picture as I think it is shorter than the Weaver...

Red Dot Sight...Where to put it?

Im283, Take a look at another thread I got going about my carbine. Look at the bottom picture, it may help you visualize it. http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?p=4680521&posted=1#post4680521

Ok, here are some pics. The weaver base is just sitting on the weapon since the screws don't fit. Ratshooter, what do you think of the look of the rail? And if your wondering that is a Scooby Doo blanket propping it up and no it is not mine.

    "New" Marlin Camp carbine .45

Well, I just order the 63B from Midway. But it is an inch longer than the one I have. I'm starting to think that the one I have might actually look better. Maybe the 63B screws will work with this base. Pics are coming.

Red Dot Sight...Where to put it?

Since it is my thread, no your not hijacking. A red dot is superimposed on a piece of optical glass. You look through the glass, kinda at a distance, not like a scope. While keeping both eyes open, put the dot on the target and pull the trigger. That's it. It gives you the advantage of...

AARRGGGHH, I'm so p!ssed. The screws that came with the Weaver base are too thick! So know I have to find the right size screws that also have a tapered head of the same size. Help, please!! P.S. I propped the gun up and put the mount/sight on and took some photos. I'll post them later after...

    "New" Marlin Camp carbine .45

Ratshooter, That sight sells for about $200 retail. I got mine on ebay, brand new, still in the shrink wrapped retail box for $159 shipped. I'm sure you know Burris makes very good optics and this model is no different. This model has light sensing electronics built in. The brightness of the...

    "New" Marlin Camp carbine .45

Thanks a bunch for the measurements. As for my sight, I'm not using the scope type. It is the reflex type. Here is the link to what I am using: http://www.burrisoptics.com/fastfire.html I've been told that I should mount this as far forward as possible, that is why I need the measurements...

Hollowpoints and the Marlin Camp 45

hddeluxe, Thanks for the additional ammo choices. I am going to try Winchester white box ball ammo for plinking although one owner said his Camp 45 didn't like that ammo. I shoot it through my Colt 70 series all the time without issue. Don't know what it wouldn't feed in the Camp. But I'm also...

    "New" Marlin Camp carbine .45

hddeluxe, Thank you for your welcome and suggestions. Ratshooter, I was just going to ask you about this mount: http://www.midwayusa.com/rewriteaproduct/189486 Is this the shorter one that you describe? And your measurement for the short one, you used the words mounting hole. I can't use...

I can see the need for multiple notches, but since mine only use one and sits up front, I think it would look much cleaner overall if I didn't have all those extra notches. So it sounds like I need one for a 94?
