    Need help with id

Yes you definitely have an 1917 Enfield that is manufactured by Winchester and sporterized. Unfortunately it loss it's collector value by doing so, but a very fine rifle for what it was altered for...Sporting. It should have a W stamped on the bolt handle if the bolt that is original. Please...

ISO Glock drop in complete slide for M22, set up for optical sights, and high co sights.

Looking for a Glock 22, 40 S&W, slide set up, for drop in for this frame, with high sights and set up for optical. Seems like Glock only sells complete pistols, but manufactures this set up for the entire pistol. Found one private source, but the cost is way up there where it would be less...

    Remington 722 barrel question

I have a rebarreled 700 that was done by Pac Nor in a 1 in 14. Even though it has had many thousands of rounds of ground squirrel hunting in it, I am the second owner. I am able to get a about .5 to .8 MOA with ten rounds at 100 yards, using 40 Grain Ballistic Tip Nosler bullets using 28.5...

    Expanding necks

Chamfer the inside of the neck, and dip the case neck into white graphite. I always also bush the inside of the neck first. The least amount of drag you can eliminate, the kinder for your sizing ball, and the less force to size the cases.

    Dented shoulder?

Load it up and shoot it ! Likely if you picked this up at the range the dent could have come from the case hitting an object when it got extracted and ejected. The dent will be gone with the next firing.

    m1903 w/ m82 scope

OK the rifle is not an military sniper, but the scope was a part of being used on a sniper. I'm not sure of the side mount being used in any form. All the sniper rifles that I have seen are top mounted. The 03A4s I am most familiar with and the receivers are stamped to where the make and...

Post refraction in some rifle aperture sights?

Almost any type of flame, even from a zippo will carbon up a front sight and take light glare away. Important to do so as your eye will tend to pull toward the light, changing your impact of the bullets on target. Carbide lamps are the greatest, but I haven't seen one in years!

    Question regarding a 22 Martini.

I had one years ago, and it was orginially a British training rifle, chambered in I think .310 Rook cartridge. Mine was rechambered to a 32 Winchester. Not a great job and a bit oversized chamber, and accuracy to be desired. I have seen some of their barrels relined to .22 cal. and even some...

Strange way to bed a rifle.

A first for me! Usually I bedded the action, and just forward of the chamber area. A few times full length bedded the action and entire barrel channel when that didn't work. Have not had a heavy barrel that had any problems but a few of the light weights have seemed to have more issues for...

    Bolt Action Carbines, "Scout" Rifles

You don't say what you expect to use it for. Years ago when milsurps in all conditions were next to nothing, I made a poor man's Scout for brush hunting. I didn't really care for a front mounted scope. I found a 03A3 action with a sewer barrel I think for under $20. Replaced the barel with a...

    How is my velocity?

Game animals will not be able to tell the diference of a couple hundred feet per second. The big question is if it is accurate??? If so, I wouldn't worry if you squeezed out that last fps! I would venture that bullet will not only expand, but likely to enter and exit the far side of anything...

    Chamber Inserts

Never used the type that remains inserted into the chamber to become permanent. The auxillary cartridge type I have, and they work slick. I have used the 32 Auto in the auxillary 30-06. Acurrate, and low noise level for short distances. Also used a .223 one that holds a 22 LR, and I used it...

    AR-15 Newbie

I have a Bushmaster LE, and a put together with Spike lower that has a much better trigger with a pro low Panther upper 16" Bull barrel (chrome molly). Both are 1/9 twist barrels and handle mid range bullets of 55 to 62 best. Haven't tryed all weights yet.

4x32 on a 16" barrel .308, what distance would you sight in at?

It depends on the bullet weight you will be using and the velocity. Once you determine the distance you intend to shoot, you can determine a mid range where the bullet will not travel any higher than X amount over a dead on hold, and then the bullet will begin to drop. A zero in range at 25...

    Do It All .308win.

Carried a pre 64 Model 70 in 30-06, early Nam. No complaints, but it is old school. Go M14 Springfield, and modernize. You won't be sorry!!! If affordable by you, the White Feather model has all the whisles and bells to get her done

.300 Win Mag for long range shooting?

If distance is your game, go for the 338. The 30s and under calibers are much more wind critical. Make sure it wears a good muzzle break, this isn't an option and necessary. The belted short necked 300 Win Mag is not that great to reload with the heavy bullets seated well below the neck into...

    New M14 Extracting problem's

Agree with Jeremy, call and then send it to Springfield. One of my Marines had a GI Garand mfg by International Harvester. It wouldn't extract, and I guessed he had a dirty or rusted chamber. Sadly it was a rusty chamber. I told him if not an advanced case he might use fine steel wool and JB...

    Wolf 7.62 X 39

Although a military designed, like the M1 Carbine it is used for short ranged assult rifles such as the AKs. First used however in the semi auto SKS. Not really designed as a penetrator and is a little light at 125 grain at 2400 fps, and drops off rapidly at distances. Not confident the HP is...
