    Recommendations on 45-70 Target Loads

Nice choice it's a smart looking rifle. Have a Pedersoli sporter which we have had some good results with, I bought it for myself originally about 15 years ago now my wife is shooting with it. It's in 45-2.4" (45-90) and had been using the Lyman 525gr 457125 bullet cast at 20:1 lead-tin mix...

    Please Explain How To....

Lyman make a nice looking bullet for the .44 S&W Russian #429383. As far as I am aware, you really need the bullet sizing (or dropping from the mould)to the size of the chamber mouths rather than the barrel groove dia. so .429 or .430 will be perfect. I shoot a .45 Colt Uberti Schofield but...

Webley Mark VI .455 / .45 acp nickel

I'd also say stay away from factory .45ACP in the old gal as it's way too powerful for them...see attached image...no, it's not mine. I use Hornady .455 brass and the RCBS .455 265gr HB mould, works a treat.

    Rodgers and Spencer

Had a Euroarms...now got a Feinwerkbau. Is the new one worth the extra cash.....er no, still can shoot as badly with it as I did the Euroarms pistol.:eek:

HK USP .45 vs Sig Sauer P220

Have a USP9 and a P220. I like both, but prefer the way the SIG feels in my hand.

BP or Pyrodex which is better?

I though black powder itself isn't actually corrosive. Sure the residue will attract water but wasn't it the primers of the day that caused all the trouble?

    Fill it to the rim?

Sure, why not it's all shootin' in my book. Don't they use bags of flour in ceremonial cannons to get more of an effect...seem to remember reading that somewhere.

    Fill it to the rim?

Just joining in you understand, looks like we are very much on the same wavelength on this one. My wife shoots a Uberti 1858 Remy, she used filler in that originally but has gone back to just bp and a smear of lube over the ball, it just seems to shoot better like that. She was always...

    Fill it to the rim?

I use to be in the fill 'er up camp, but have recently gone to adding cream of wheat filler and have noticed better accuracy. I kinda 'inherited' the load when I bought the gun so after trying various loads the one I have stuck with involved the filler. I always thought that the lower loads...

Dragunov Tigr ammo selection? heavy vs light ball

I'd certainly stay with the 150Gn stuff and did in my own Tigr. Although it will shoot the heavy ammo, it's probably a little punishing for the action over time, even if you do fit a recoil buffer.

    Bore slugging

Cerrosafe would be what I'd suggest, it's very easy to use and is probably more accurate than hammering lead through. Plus....you can use it for chamber casts too.
