I don't get hit in the face shooting left handed, with CAR. So no, getting hit in the face isn't an issue. You may not be employing the technique properly though.

We shoot CAR right and left-handed. I have never noticed a disadvantage, while shooting CAR left-handed.

I carry a .40 daily. Usually the "company" gun (G22), or a G27, or a P40(Kahr). The reason is simple: free ammo.
