Shooting range turned me away - said i'm a suicide risk!

They have had something like 2 or 3 people in just the last couple years off themselves with rented guns at that range. Couple years ago they had two people die there within the same week. http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/shot083.shtml There are all of two indoor ranges serving the...

    ....men grabbed their rifles...

Most importantly, if the other side had won, human beings would have remained a commodity. Real easy to figure out who the bad guys are in that fight. Of course this is why people try so hard to separate the slavery issue from the civil war, because it is the only way a person can argue that...

    Colt 1851 Navy Comparison

It also just might have something to do with what the other guy is carrying. going into combat with the ballistic equivalent of a hot .32 makes more sense when that is what everyone else is carrying.

Police informed my (anti) boss that I carry!

I am just bewildered that a Reno Nevada taxi company bans the carrying of weapons in their vehicles. Overall my impression is that Reno is a pretty accomodating place to people who carry weapons, and taxi of all places is a place that really makes sense to carry one. I can't think of many...

When and why did SWAT start wearing Black masks?

This is also why you almost never see motorcycle cops wearing full face helmets. It's been long established in our culture that the "good guys" don't need to wear masks.

Is this open carry or concealed?

If you can see the gun then it isnt concealed.

"you dont have to worry about if the bullet will fragment or not."

The military uses ball ammo for reasons that may not apply to all civilian shooters. Different tools for different jobs.

    Switchblades...Legal in Ohio?

I don't know what kind of autos you have tried, but it sure as heck doesn't take me three seconds to open one, and i am not particularly well practiced or fast.

Thumbs Down on Bell Charter Oak Holsters!

I don't think there were any implications in my question beyond the obvious nature of the question itself, which you haven't answered by the way. You scrounged up a 2 year old thread for a reason, i was curious as to why and what had happened in the intervening time. Seems a pretty reasonable...

I really think I should buy a snubby - again.

The Ruger is a really nice gun but it is VERY heavy for a snubby. It makes an excellent pack, camping, or hiking gun, but it doesnt really have that "snubby-advantage" in terms of carry.

    who was GUNKID?

This brings back some memories, I remember that guy from the old Shooter's board. He was a real piece of work back then.

Mother-in-law wants to buy me a gun while traveling abroad

It's been awhile since I have dealt with this, but there is an ATF license required to import a firearm. There are some FFLs that might be able to make the arrangements, i think the best people to talk to would be the big C&R import houses that deal with this daily like AIM Surplus etc. The...

    Hollow Points or Round Nose?

My rule of thumb is that anything under .380 suffers from some penetration issues and one should stick with solids. I would much rather end up with a bullet that doesnt expand than one that gets stuck in a rib.

Thumbs Down on Bell Charter Oak Holsters!

Look at the dates in this thread, the followup post came nearly two YEARS after the last post. I would imagine that some events may have taken place in the mean time?

Glock 19 CCW and Uncle Mike's IWB - Seriously?

I've had some guns come REAL close to getting spit out of their holster on a motorcycle. Hell, I've had wallets and cell phones do the same thing. I've actually gone to a smaller gun in an inside pocket to avoid the problem. For a full sized gun on the waist you are gonna need some kind of...

Have you done anything to address gunbroker's ban on the sale of beany babies?

Activists' home invaded by police. How would you act?

Sounds like a pretty lame schoolyard excuse to me. Even if it was true, what the hell was his hand doing inside their house in the first place?

    Hiking Staff Sword

Check your local laws before you get too excited. Sword canes and overlength knives can net serious consequences if you get caught in the wrong place with them.

I want to pass on a gun to my son, any suggestions on what to buy?

I suggest something that your kid won't be able to buy when he is grown up but that won't be illegal. The best bet would be an item that is already getting kinda hard to find like a pinned & recessed S&W, a nice Colt DA revolver, or a K22, something along those lines. Things that are made to...

Gunshop staff attitude: is this savvy?

A lot of people arent too keen on buying a brand new gun that has been dry fired by thirty different people before they even get to see it. It probably doesnt matter with centerfire pistols, but that's how it is. Whenever I look at a new .22 I ask the shop guy if I can dry fire it. If he...
