Joe Gunns, I believe the picture you portray is right on the money.. Let me start out by saying that I am not just an avid outdoorsman, Its my job. I am a state ranger in one of the western states. I have been in the woods all my life. and have come into contact with wild animals many times...

Here is a sweetheart! This is my new S&W Mod 29-10, 3" .44 mag. I carry .44 specials for daily defensive carry. I works great and you can always step up to .44 mag's for a woods gun. Just another choice. :cool:

I just picked up this 29-10 3" .44 mag..... and I really love it. It is actually easy to carry concealed. I carry .44 spl for dialy carry. If I had to have only one gun it would be a toss up between this and my Mod 19, 4". :cool:

I have two. The top two are .44 mags. #1) S&W Mod 29-5 6.5"; #2) S&W 29-10, 3". For my money I would go in this order Freedom Arms; S&W; Ruger; Tarus. Best of Luck :cool:

You're right ,the SXS isn't the best but ....... it will get the job done at close range, and I do not have an over and under. I do have a pump though. The trick is to have it with you when you need it. Just my $.02 :cool:
