    Llama Mini Max

Thanks, HighV. I agree. My Colt 1911 Officer's Model came with 2 recoil springs but I converted it to a single spring right after I bought it 15 years ago. Neighbor said it doesn't have a conical barrel but it should according to what I've learned from this thread. I guess I really need to see...

    Llama Mini Max

Re-assembling a Llama Mini Max? I don't mean to hijack this thread but I have a question. Yesterday my neighbor came over with a problem. He said he just bought a Llama Mini Max and stripped it for cleaning after his first trip to the range. He said the recoil spring flew across the room when...

    Great news!!!!!!!!!!!

Um, this is only a suggestion but you might let her shoot a .22 pistol or revolver until she reaches a comfort level with the basics. Even mid-range target wadcutters in .38 Special can be overwhelming to a beginner. Once she has become confident with the .22 she will beg to move up to something...

    51% Signs in TX ????

Sam, an establishment is required to post the 51% sign by TABC but if it isn't posted or you fail to notice it, you cannot use that as a defense from prosecution. You would still be guilty under the law. Be very careful. Best. tawakoni

    51% Signs in TX ????

Jesse, now that really IS confusing. And I'll bet that TABC got it wrong and poor Wasabi is at their mercy. Best. tawakoni

Legality of wearing a CHL badge in TX

Lee Brown is the former Chief of Police and current Mayor of Houston, Texas. As I understand it, all visitors to Houston City Hall must wear a "Visitors Badge" kinda like "Hello. My name is...". Legally armed citizens get a "badge" that is a special color so all city employees and others who...

    What is your opinion?

Twenty-odd years ago I lived in Milwaukee, WI for a short time (22 months). Upon my arrival in that fine city, I visited the local Police Department regarding my long-standing habit of carrying a handgun. They confirmed my information that open-carry was legal in Wisconsin and concealed-carry...

    51% Signs in TX ????

By all means, speak to the owner or manager (politely). Sometimes a phone call to the corporate office is necessary. The establishment must post the sign that they receive from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission and sometimes TABC just gets it wrong. I've gotten no less than FOUR businesses...

Would you carry during an interview?

I've done it several times. Never considered NOT carrying. It's no big deal unless there are pat-downs, metal detectors or strip searches. Or the interview location is a place where carrying is against the law (like a bar, school, correctional facility). Best. tawakoni

    Progressive Reloader pre survey

I use a Dillon SDB and two RL550B's for handgun calibers and a RCBS "Jr" and a Rockchucker for rifle calibers. I don't reload for shotguns yet. I've had the RCBS machines since the early '60s. tawakoni

S&B 45 ACP brass give you trouble?

First of all, NEVER reload A-MERC brass. Crush it and throw it away whenever you find some. I keep a big pair of channel-locks on my bench just for that purpose. I hate the stuff and crushing it gives me pleasure. :D Second, S&B is difficult to prime if the case is only once-fired. I think...

    DFW members, sound off...!

Thanks Johnny! :D :D I'm proud to be on your list. I'm generally available for a shoot anytime, anywhere in N. Texas. I MIGHT have a quality outdoor range (handguns only) available if it's not on a weekend.

    TX carry question.

Picky, uh, Blackhawk. :D I DO see your point. I am looking for the statutory definition. A few years ago I often took my grandson home from Day Care. I would go in and chat with the staff while he got ready to leave and I carried my pistol just like I always do. There was no signage of any...

    TX carry question.

An educational institution, public or private, is a school. A church school is a private school. The students get educational credits just like those who attend public school. Mac's Muffler Shop and Welding School? Well, it depends. It's not necessarily a school just because that's what Mac...

Hang on guys. My earlier posts came from my class notes from CHL Instructor School 2 years ago. Give me some time for research so I can recite chapter and verse. Best. tawakoni :)

    TX carry question.

The Texas CHL law changed on 9/01/97 regarding school parking lots. Prior to that date it was forbidden to have a firearm when you picked up children or dropped them off in a school parking lot. This question is on the CHL written exam. A school is defined as an educational institution, both...

    TX carry question.

Regarding handguns/firearms in a vehicle in a school parking lot in Texas, it's OK if the lot is open to the public (spaces for visitors) and accessible from a public road or street. A parking lot that is restricted to faculty only or requires an ID or pass to enter is off limits. Best...

Parts for an Ohaus Powder Measure

Swamp, I've had a Lyman-Ohaus M5 scale for 40 years and it's the best scale I've ever used for reloading. Last year a friend gave me an Ohaus 10-10 scale which is very similar to the M5. The 10-10 was just like new but there was no owner's manual. Because it IS different than my old reliable M5...
