Is it worth it? Model 19 Question.

I would spend money on what counts, the inside! Have a good smith break it down, clean it throughtly, check it out, replace springs and what nots if needed. Then just get some sexy walnut grips and T grip for it! Worn blueing is like scars and nicks, they are what is on a working weapon...

    Taurus 605 follow up

I always liked the Taurus 605. I think its a great snubbie and had very little problems with it. I was surprised at how it grouped with the heavier bullets! If you get close enough, that sucker can take deer! I agree with you on the rubber grips. I am lucky to be within an hour drive...

    Taurus Model 94

All rimfire revolvers have a heavy DA trigger. Its the nature of the beast due to the striking power needed to assure consent firing. I had one and have shot several. Some good, some bad. But, then the same can be said about the S&W 317s I've shot. If you aren't set on the Taurus, I...

    Belt Mountain base pin

Glad to here you like your 41 Maggie! I had one that just about ruined my marriage. I couldn't get it to group with anything but JHPs. I really wanted to get a nice heavy bullet, like Paco talks about, in it and carry it for SEMO deer. +1 on sending the cylinder off to get the throats...

Highest Quality Revolver for under $500

+1 on never buying new! If you don't think you can get a good deal on your own, buy a seasoned shooting buddy lunch and have him look at a few for you. My favorite for home and carry is a 3" GP100 or 2.5" M19 or 3" 65. I've had 686s that sucked and GPs that were too nose heavy. And then...

    Inexpensive .22 LR Revolvers.

Now, this is the second H&R revolver I've seen that can hit paper at 25 yards! Normally, they just plain suck. I have an older standard model from the early 80s that can put nine shots in a 1" group at 25 yards! My jaws dropped! Most of the times H&Rs have patterns instead of groups. I...

    24 hour countdown!

We should care what the SC renders. The Founding Fathers allows the SC to INTERPT the Constitution, by the checks and balances. The House and Senate migh make the laws, but its the SC that interpts them. And once they are inteprted a certain way, only the SC can reinterpts them. 22lr

    Im Calling BS...

I don't think I saw a rifled barrel in deer camp til I was in high school. My dad's favorite "deer" shotgun (it was his only shotgun) was an Ithica 37 Featherweight, 12 ga, with a 30" full barrel. I saw him buy the cheapest slugs Wally World have and "sight" it in the evening before season...

    Marlin Firearms plant closing?!

I pray to a merciful God that H&R/NEF doesn't shut down! What is Remington thinking? Are they trying to replace NEF handirifles and shotguns with their Russian and China junk? 22lr

Thoughts on Ruger SP101 in .327magnum

I know of alot of old timers who carry the 32 H&R mag in j-frames. They like the sixth shot. At ECQ situations, I don't see where the 327 is much better than the 32 H&R. I know the 32 H&R can drop a deer sized animal from a pistol. 22lr

Bang around duty gun for armored car work.

Don't woory about getting your weapon "broken in". A guy with one wornout, holster worn, and scratched up weapon is pretty scary. He might have actually shot the damn thing enough to be good with it! 22lr

    On Fighting Shotguns....

Don't forget Ayoobs STRESSFIRE 2 book on shotgunning! Also, not mentioned much, but Benelli's Tactical Nova is a hell of a shotty! 22lr

    Value of this 3" S&W 13-2??

I just found a 85% Ruger Speed Six in 38 special and blued for $270. All I could think of was the time I pasted up all those stainless 357s for under $300. So I just bit the bullet and got it. Offer than $350, tell them its an oddity, its blued, it only holds 6 shots, whatever the auto guys...

How can Taurus do this but not Smith or Ruger?

To the OP, I don't know. You can argue magazine cap all day long, but a small pocket revolver will is the thing to have. Will one round make a diff? I don't know, but I hate to wonder how if the first five failed to do it. S&W had the nice M12. Loved that handgun. Wished I bougth it...

    20 gauge home defense shotgun?

+1 on the single shot! I have an older Tracker 2, smooth bore, with rifle sights and loaded with #4 Buck and three in a cuff on the stock. First, I really doubt you need a second shot with that load at close range. Second, they are easy to use and safe. Not much accute motor skills needed to...

    Reduced Recoil or 20 gauge?

+1 on fit and reduce felt recoil. A poor fitting weapon kicks alot. Its worth the extra time it takes to have a smith cut the stock/add a thicker pad and put on a cheek pad. Its only about $50 total, or at least mine charges that. 22lr

    The end of H&R/NEF?

I need to get my reciever and forearm sent in and get those barrels I have been putting off! With that said, I WILL NOT buy a china made H&R/NEF! They can take their cheapo Norico 870 knockoffs and....well you know. I think I might not be buying ANYTHING that Remington has its hand in if...

    Rossi shotguns

I like the Rossi singles over the NEF/H&R. They seem better balances and just plain fits better. As far as recievers, all they really do is keep parts in, the KABOOM is in the chamber. So it doesn't matter if its alloy or steel. 22lr
