With the factory grips it is not too bad with 1125gr Silvertips and my 2" is fun to shoot .38's for practice. For full house stuff I will stick with my blackhawk for range play and I will leave the SP for defensive work.
jameslovesjammie,
What is the make on the 180WFN??
The thing to keep in mind with cast bullets is the widest meplate possable will deliver the most leathality, I am waiting fro Ranch Dog to finish he R&D on his new 190gr WFNGC which is also a tumble lube
This sounds kinda vague and I wonder what would happen if challenged by DNR as Buffalo Bore manufactured ammo rates there 180 gr. LFN-GC .357mag ammo at a ME of 783 ft. lbs.@ 1400fps. My personal hand loads move a bit faster than that out of my Ruger Bisley/Vaquero.
My preference for a .357...
Just out of curiosity, what is "minimum handgun cartrige requirment?
I find that a 180grWFN bullet moving better than 1500fps stops a whole lot and I have never lost game. Shot placement and knowing the capabilities of yourself and the tool of choice is everything.
I am in the same boat as trickyasafox as I cst my own for pennies a pound.
While you are loading all that .38 ammo keep gas cutting in mind and its effects when you switch back to .357 ammo
I regestered here a "while" back and shortly after my machine crashed and lost all my links. I stumbled back in doing searchs for info on 45/70's which I plan on adding to the collection soon. I have spent the better part of the last 20yrs working L.E., E.P. or security for DoD stuff. Last year...
Kinda new here, regestered a while back and surfed in and out then my computer crashed lost/forgot link and found my way back.
I live way up in the mountains, Union Co. It is actualy closer for me to go shoot in NC.
