    Smartcarry vs. Thunderwear

I was planning to buy a Thunderwear holster (the only one of that style I knew about). They had a much more extensive advertising campaign. When I hit the forums to do some general research about the style, I learned about SmartCarry and the patent disputes. To make a long story short, I...

    Custom hidden vehicle safe

How can it be illegal to install a secure container in your vehicle? Or do you mean it's illegal to store weapons in the container? Which states forbid either of these? I hadn't heard this before.

NRA: Trading something for nothing isn't compromise.

mdao: I agree, and withraw my earlier comment. :o I thought the doctor's statement declared Cho a danger to himself but not others. I did not realize that the judge made the "danger" declaration in spite of the doctor's statement. I definitely do NOT believe that a judge should have the...

NRA: Trading something for nothing isn't compromise.

In other words, "I don't want to see a doctor about my mental problems because I might not be allowed to acquire firearms in the future if the doctor decides I present an immenent danger?" Yup, absolutely! Sounds like a GREAT idea to me. Is there anyone out there who truly believes it was...

Wasting money on an Otis Kit?

I normally use Bore Snakes first, followed by traditional "rod & patches" as required and a regular bore brush if needed. That's not to say anything against Otis products, just that I've never found a need to add any of them to the tool kit.

what was your first gun you bought not

Colt Python .357, high gloss blue, with a 4" barrel. $325 in 1976. Bought it because I refused to trust my life to the POS my security guard company tried to issue me. Had the trigger worked on, and replaced the stock grips with a tapered butt version with finger grooves. Carried it...

    THR Saved My Life

I have been shooting a variety of firearms for many purposes over many years. I have still learned new things every time I come here. I especially enjoy the cordial tone of almost every poster here. There are a lot of nuts "out there" and I was really losing any enjoyment of visiting most forums.

Para 6.45 LDA Covert Black Carry: Pros/Cons?

Well howdy again, plainsman! Looks like you and I are the only two owners of this particular critter... :) I'm not ready to sell it yet. I may send it over to the good people at Cylinder & Slide to see whether they have any suggestions (heck of a back log, though).

    "shooter" hat?

Tilly makes some great hats! Expensive, though. My favorites are the "folding leather" hats made by Minnetonka Moccasin. I've had my oldest one for twelve years now. Crushable, foldable, waterproof. Work fine under headsets. Under $40. Some models have a chin strap, some models also have...

Dumbest thing you heard/saw in a Gun Store or at the range.

Last January, my spouse and I were at a gun show. I was walking the aisles, when I look across one of the vendors areas. You know the type, a hollow rectangle inside a perimeter of folding tables. There at the opposite table (maybe twenty feet away) stood a freaking uniformed police officer...

Para 6.45 LDA Covert Black Carry: Pros/Cons?

Does anyone have this pistol? If so, would you recommend it to others? Why or why not? Personally I am finding it too heavy for daily carry, and the black finish wears off entirely too easily. Mine also doesn't like my favorite defense round (Gold Dot), so I have had to switch to Ranger...
