    I'm a convert! Now I own a G19 & G26

Sounds like it's time for you to get yourself a G19 and a G30 ;)

    Glock Suggestions

But, but...plastic pistols aren't supposed to last that long! ;)

    Recoil

I think that's interesting since both of those have a relatively high bore axis and I experienced noticeable muzzle-flip in the USP .40 fs that I fired. I'm not saying you're wrong, because felt recoil is subjective and I've heard many accounts of the XDs in .40 being a pleasure to shoot...

What's up with Charles Daly 1911s?

A buddy of mine in FL picked up a CD 1911 as his first pistol. He's very happy with it, though he doesn't have anything to compare it to. He has had some FTFs -- I told him that a lot of trouble stems from the mags but sadly he can't just go and pick up a Wilson or CMC mag because it's a...

    Beretta 92 FS

Do yourself a favor and check out the PT92 that mole mentioned -- a lot of people actually prefer them to the original Beretta model.

Where can I get cheep Ammo for my 9mm????

Sure, they provide a lot of jobs. Sure, they are one of the few places where you can go at 3 a.m. and buy a coffee pot or a package of Q-Tips. But the goodness of Wal-Mart died with Sam Walton IMO...haven't you heard/read about their business practices? They are all about the bottom dollar...

concealed carry "did you draw your weapon" poll

Mike, I got a chill when I read that. I'm glad no one was hurt, but I for one am so glad that we have the freedom to carry and put an end to situations that would possibly result in harm to ourselves, our loved ones, or innocent bystanders. This example, among others in this thread, are a...

Kel Tec P3AT Crimson Trace Coming!!!

:uhoh: Are you saying you think it would take at least 2 mags worth of .380 into the COM or CNS to deter an attacker?

    First Pistol

Sounds like your dad is more...traditional. There's nothing wrong with a good revolver, but if you prefer semis you already named two great choices (1911 and XD). The XD will be tough, reliable, accurate, and easier to take down. The 1911 is obviously a classic design but might require a...

    RIA 1911 Tactical

It amuses me that people, usually with expensive 1911s, put down the RIAs. Yet, a vast majority of the owners sure seem to be satisfied. I don't think they are immune to problems but they sure are a heck of a lot of pistol for the price. A great option if you're looking to get into a 1911 but...

    MilSpec vs. Taurus 1911

+1. I've read about Springfield guns having problems, and I've read about Taurus guns having problems, so obviously neither is perfect. But if I encountered a problem I'd much rather deal with SA than Taurus. Taurus can advertise that lifetime warranty all they want, but they seem to take...

People will find any reason to bash Glocks...I'm curious, as the OP didn't mention Glock once, or even imply that they are superior. Why the hate?

    Sigs

Just as an update from a couple of pages ago, I finally got a chance to put a few rounds through my P220 last weekend. Wow, that SA trigger pull is really something, isn't it? Not quite like a 1911, but pretty darn close! Much different than my Glock. The gun is very accurate, as I expected...

What is it that attracts you to semi autos?

LOL! I like them for several of the reasons mentioned in this thread, but I must admit that what you said is a big part of the draw as well! Except, my G19 goes Bang,Bang,Bang,Bang,Bang,Bang,Bang,Bang,Bang,Bang,Bang,Bang,Bang,Bang,Bang. And one more time if I've topped it off +1. :D I'll...

New Family Member. Officially a Sig guy!!!

Hard to go wrong with a P220. It's been really chilly here but I finally got a chance to take my "new to me" P220 out to verify its function and see what the DA/SA trigger was all about. Wow. That thing handled great. Trigger was awesome. And of course, it performed flawlessly. I can't...

Sell It, Forget It, or Refinish It?

I concur. There's nothing wrong with wanting your weapon to look nice, but I definitely wouldn't sell it at an $80 loss because of that blemish! If a gun is going to be used often, it won't stay perfect for long anyway. I would only spring for the aftermarket finish if I was interested in...

    Best Compact for Around $400?

I can wholeheartedly recommend the G19/G26, but if you absolutely don't want to save up I'd probably go with the Bersa Thunder 9mm. I think you'd be wise to save for the Glock though, especially if reliability is as big of a concern as you say it is. You could pick up a Kel-Tec or Bersa and...

I got yet another SIG - pics

Man, that looks a lot like Kestrel's ;) I'd like to pick up a 228 eventually. I can't really recall hearing one bad thing about them, ever. Nice buy!
  19. Q

    To Glock 20 or not...

The G20 was designed to withstand the 10mm round. If you like the characteristics of the Glock design and can afford the ammo, don't hesitate to pick it up and shoot the snot out of it. :)
  20. Q

GLOCK 30 vs. Springfield XD-45 Compact

I went with the G30 due to the low bore axis and having a great experience with my G19, but it would be hard to go wrong with either. If the Springfield fits your hand better or you like the idea of a grip safety, the XD would be a good choice.
