I own 2 (91/30 1942 and m38 1943) just ordered a 91/30 hex reciever. Just recently I was watching a special on the siege of Stalingrad. They were showing how the Germans were stopped. One example was they took the German mauser and Russian Mosin plus the respective cleaning oils to a freezer...

Took the M38 to the range today. Good groupings at 50 yards. Cleaned up the pitting and lubricated. The Stock was in excellent condition and the correct one for the M38. All and all pretty satisfied with the Mosin.:)

Thanks for the input. I really gained a lot of good ideas on the pitting. I was particularly interested about the bury the rifle bathed in axle grease and in a PVC pipe. I was considering that thought but now I am backing away from that idea.:D

I just purchased a M38 mosin. I know milsurp is a gamble so I know what to expect. But this time I am at a loss. I disasembled the M38 the stock is in excellent condition. I am thinking that this has seen little use. The bolt was the smoothest working bolt for any mosin in my collection...

Really a nice gun. Accurate too. I also got mine from SOG. I found that the ammunition is not as available, or is there much choices at the local gun shops. That is a shame. I really rather buy fromt the local guy than mail order. But one merchant was completely out!!!!!!

I know they (AIM) sells a CZ 83 in .380 caliber. Do you mean the CZ 82 that is chambered in 9x18 makarov?? A little confusing thats all....:confused:
