Strange thing happened at the Dr's office...

It is impossible to know what is in your heart. I think you did the right thing by helping. I think I would have done the same thing. Possibly gaining a new gun friend in the process. Since leaving NY, I have found that there are many like us out there. Some just don't show it.

    traffic violation

Sounds like the cop was being a jerk. I got nabbed without my insurance card and all I had to do was fax a copy of it to KSP HQ. The ticket was dropped. There is no problem with firearm ownership after a traffic violation.

Working Guns for Homesteading/rural/off grid lifestyle?

    >357 for a handgun, 12 guage for a shotgun, .308 for a rifle and a 10/22 for a rimfire. That should cover all bases. Anything else is a want list. Although a M4 would be very nice for some home protection at a bit of a distance.

    A couple Kentucky questions

Most shops around here prefer you not bring a loaded gun in. I usually bring it in with a case. Make sure the mag is out also. They will want to check it clear themselves. Kentucky as a whole is very gun friendly. Most people don't even give you a second glance when carrying a gun just about...

    Felons in Kentucky

Non violent felons can petition the court for the right to vote and the right to own firearms. It all depends on the reaso they were convicted. I will cite as soon as I find out which one.

    Building a 1911 from a kit, questions.

How else will you learn? Basic hand tools are all you need to start. Files, stones, bench block, punches and hammer. I would wait to get a dremmel tool until you determine that you really need it. Form follows function so work for reliability first and then make it look good. Have fun with it.

    Fate and a New Gun

Nice grab. I have often wondered how gunshops feel when they don't buy a trade in and another customer buys it. I had a chance to buy a Browning HP that the shop turned down because the gun owner wanted more than the shop would pay. I did not do it because I was purchasing a vintage pistol...
