    Why Not 22 Mag.?

ammo quality No one has yet talked about ammunition quality! I have a NAA "Black Widow" with both the .22LR and .22 Magnum cylinders. I enjoy shooting the .22 Magnum a lot more. I have yet to find a brand of .22LR that is not incredibly smoky, and I dislike standing in smoke and lead dust...

    Small Revolver for CCW

The answer to your question depends upon your grip (both hand size and grip strength/stability when shooting). For many people the most lightweight revolvers do not absorb enough recoil to be comparably accurate.

Gimme an idea of a good .22 revolver...

Probably not what you want, but consider a NAA Black Widow. With the smaller wooden grips it becomes as convenient to carry but more accurate than the smaller NAA mini revolvers. It's fun to shoot, and either you or your wife could have an "always gun" if you do not already. Part of...

    NAA .22LR Mini Revolver

I really enjoy my NAA mini-revolver. Before purchasing it I did quite a bit of research online. Folks wanting tiny yet shoot-able seemed happiest with the "Black Widow" model (largest) with wooden "bird's eye" grips put on. I went with that choice and am very pleased.

    Best Non-Lethal Weapons

I'm in Oregon. Here the law reads: Thus in this state if you wish to carry a weapon it might as well be a gun. Otherwise use chemical spray or a blindingly bright flashlight beam and then run. Legally there isn't any middle ground. Well, maybe there is if you are on a walk with your dogs...

    Vampire Gun

Such guns need silver bullets, still manufactured in Oregon. We're a weird state.

    Ankle carry

In response to Alexfubar and Soybomb, I've actually found that driving is the most uncomfortable time for my wearing an ankle holster. The holster I have (Galco cop series ankle band) seems designed to support the gun in its normal position with respect to gravity and which direction is "down"...

    Ankle carry

I often carry a very light J-frame in an ankle holster. I've never had to buy pants especially for it, neither slacks not jeans. When seated I can even cross my legs with that leg on top without exposing the gun (although I try not to do so, for it is slightly more obvious then). The only...

    Guns Of The Future

Caseless ammunition is definitely a significant futuristic idea. Once we overcome the engineering constraints to shoot bullets fast enough using electronically ignited gas the world of pistols will dramatically change. Sonic weapons are currently being developed. It will be a long time before...

Happy Day Shooting new S&W 351PD

I enjoy mine. For me it the inexpensive practice is more important than caliber. As a fairly new shooter, I would rather have a slightly wimpy gun with more practice and better muscle memory than a gun of more respected caliber I can't afford to be as proficient with.

My daughter wants a rifle. A pink one.

When my brother was in college, my mom bought his girlfriend a toolbox of which she had glued pink ribbons to all the tools. The problem was this girlfriend owned tools already, but her male friends kept borrowing them and not returning them. Sure enough, the pink ribbon tools were always...

    Firefly - Mal's pistol cartridges?

The firearms in the Firefly universe also make electronic noises. If the method of propulsion really is electrically ignited gas (maybe a canister above the trigger on Mal's pistol?) then a magazine would only need to hold bullets, not complete cartridges. A small magazine by our standards...

    Bore Snakes

Some of the descriptions of broken bore snakes are clearly nothing like the item I use. Mine is basically a thick shoelace, with a small cylinder of metal on one end (for a weight) and a few bristles poking out radially at one spot.

    Breaking in my revolver

Depending upon make and model, some revolvers have a smoother trigger pull after a lot of use (i.e. dry firing). I'm not widely experienced enough to make a list of which need this, but have seen the issue appear on a number of threads here.

    Ankle Carry

In reply to The Lone Haranguer, I often carry my only gun in an Galco "cop series" ankle band. There are three caveats... First, this most often happens at work (synagogue or community college) in a setting where I will most likely offend someone to an extreme degree if they find out I am...

    Bore Snakes

Mine saves me a lot of time. I keep it in my range bag inside a ziploc bag, with the cleaner and a snap cap. I use the snap cap to keep track of which cylinder chamber I'll be cleaning last as I go around the circle. As DragonFire said they can't be your only cleaning tool. But what they do...

Does your church have pro-gun Pastor?

I am a pastor, and spend time with many others. I know of none here who are anti-gun. Most own at least one. I'm one of at least two that regularly carries. In a conversation last month, two pastors I was having lunch with were discussing how it was not logical that they did not mind...

How many ammos have you fired off your wheelgun?

Well, for what three months of data is worth... I purchased my S&W 351PD in May. Since then I've put about 1,200 rounds through it. (Like you I shoot 200 to 300 rounds per session, and shoot about three times per month. The range I go to sells the cardboard box of ten 50-count boxes of CCI...
