I was wondering, are handguns legal to own in Canada? I thought I heard that Canada doesn't allow guns to be used for self-defense. I wasn't sure what that meant. Hunters sometimes use handguns, but seems like non-hunters are not very aware of that.

I have scopes on all my guns except 2 shotguns and a Ruger Single Six revolver, because I see a lot better that way and makes me less likely to go for the "Hail Mary" shots on critters. The only scopeless kills I've made have been with shotguns in the short distance of shotgun range.
