    Removing buggered screw

Hex head? You might be in luck. What has worked for me on several occaisions was to find the torx bit that will almost go into the stripped out hex hole and drive it in. Then use the torx bit to remove the screw. Make sure whatever the screw is in is mounted securely and you have a good, firm...

    45 Colt... 300 gr

Since you are using jacketed bullet loads for lead bullets, you're going to get higher velocities, as the softer exposed lead resists the rifling less. I haven't tried lead, but have loaded Speers 300 gr. JSP to about 1250 fps out of my Blackhawk.

Is this item worth the money?

I don't have one, but am seriously considering getting one. I know some people who have them and they love them. While there are several methods to load a magazine, they tell me there is no better way to unload one, except of course by using the trigger. So if you have to unload mags very often...

Short barrel + long muzzle brake?

A lot of people think they look more cool, as the long section of barrel past the front sight base kinda looks dorky. But you are right, the overall is the same. When I was younger I thought this as well, and had one with a long flashider and short barrel, but have gotten away from that now...

Pop Bottle Silencer... Fact or Fiction?

On .22s, they work pretty decently, good for about half a box, depending on the ammo and how it's attached. Of course, accuracy is degraded as you are shooting through the plastic. I seem to remember trying it on a .22 magnum, and it not being nearly as effective.

    Remington derringer

If you must fire it, you might try Old Western Scrounger for ammo. But as noted earlier, the hinge is known to crack. If you crack it shooting it, and it's in good shape now, much of it's value will be lost.

    Post 1900 Colt Lightning rifles

I can probably find out, but I won't have access to that book 'till Sat. I do know that the handguns started using smokeless-proofed steel in 1901, with the remainder of the previous parts used up by about 1904.

Are you looking to get rid of them? More calibers? Pics?

    Current Blackpowder Regulations

No, I'm not saying that they should be banned entirely, just banned from primitive season. While I wouldn't hunt with one, it is a rifle, and there are other rifles I wouldn't hunt with that folks hunt with every year. Just like there are shotguns I wouldn't touch that others swear by. Inlines...

Loading a Ruger Single Six .22

In the new Vaqueros, this complaint was specifically addressed. They come with crescent head ejector rods and free-spin pawls, the latter of which allows alignment of the cylinder.

    Current Blackpowder Regulations

I suppose those who would be doing the flaming would be the ones using the inlines. I think they should be outlawed for hunting, and from what I've seen, some jurisdictions agree. Primitive means primitive, not telescopic sights and shotgun primers with saboted jacketed bullets. The primitive...

How to clean tubular magazine on marlin 30-30?

Interesting. I don't know about your luck or the above mentioned Ruger, but cleaning the mag tube is pretty simple. Remove the screw holding the plug in the end at the muzzle, be careful, the spring is almost half again as long as the tube. The spring comes right out and the follower will follow...

    .45 ACP Carbine ammo?

I have a Beretta CX4 in .45 acp. I have shortened the barrel to about 14" and put a permanent muzzle brake on it. I put a Trijicon Tripower on it. At 50 yds., it's pretty impressive. At 100 yds., the groups open up appreciably, but are consistent. It will keep the rounds inside the chest area of...

Where to find old SxS parts?

Try Numrich Arms www.e-gunparts.com . They have a store brand cross-reference that should tell you who actually made the gun and the parts may or may not be available. That website is from memory, I think it's right. It may be without the dash.

    Current Blackpowder Regulations

Yeah, I ain't much for those inlines, either. To me, if it doesn't have a sidelock on it, with either a nipple or a frizzen, it's not a muzzle loader. Primitive doesn't mean scoped shooting jacketed bullets. It's just a chance for all those who can't hack a real muzzle loader to go during...

Those with collections - which to shoot?

I usually always shoot my carry gun, and others are optional. I was in a pistol league, shooting smallbore every week, but now am on night shift so I can't. I occaisionally still do CAS so that gets the sixguns out. A bunch just sit there in the safe waiting (hoping?) for a trip to the range.

    Reassembly of Remington Model 550-1

The Nylon 66 has a shet metal cover screwed to the plastic receiver housing, that's why it won't hold zero. It was designed strictly as a plinker. If your 550 is like mine, you'll have to drill and tap it, but the barrel is screwed firmly into the receiver, so it should be good to go. The...

    Current Blackpowder Regulations

I don't know about your states rules, but federally, since it is a classed explosive, they do monitor sales. That said, buying it is generally not restricted, but to sell it, a dealer must have a special license and store it a certain way, plus the insurance is much higher. I order mine over the...
