The RD 350 is my favorite 45-70 bullet. I usually shoot it with 27gr AA5744. I dont even bother to put on the GCs. It's very accurate in either my Pedersoli Sharps or a Marlin CB.
I wouldn't change or modify anything on a classic like that. They are exellent shooters. Try it out at 25 yds, then to 50. Be sure to keep the old grips and box.
I had an 8mm mil surp bounce off my shooting table about 1 foot from the muzzle. I was shooting at a 8" mild steel disc at 100 meters. When it happened, it was so fast, I thought that it was a piece of the gun that flew off with the shot. I found it about 10' from the table. It looked like a...
The finish looks fine to me. The stampings look good. They shoot pretty good and are nice guns. You will like it. I would check with a Colt expert before I shot a lot of full power hard ball ammo with it. You might need to change springs for that.
I'm not sure about yours, but the new "Axis" with the plastic stock, has the pad held on with the rear sling stud and a little square pin on the top. You have to take the stud out 1st. Then push in the sq pin.
Thanks Skyshot. I saw that and a Rifle Basix for about $75. I do think it has the same trigger as the Stevens 200. I was hoping maybe to change a spring or two and polish a little. I haven't bought the gun yet, but for $250 new, it's tempting.
I looked at a Savage Edge yesterday in .223. It seems like it would be a good cheap knockabout gun. However the trigger was heavier than I like. Any easy solutions ? I dont need one in ounces, but a couple of LBS would be nice.
Durty, shooting across a fence or property line can get you some jail time. Your 30 cal mega blaster probably won't pawn for enough to make bail money.
A Buckmark Camper is just as accurate and is as easy to shoot as as any of them. It has good sights, and with a trigger job, which they all need, is hard to beat. That said, it needs to feel comfortble in your hand. Good luck on your choice.
I have a series 70 Gold Cup that bites me pretty good. Is there a after market grip safety that I could install without any grinding or changes in the gun? I would like to shoot it more, but I don't want to make any permanent changes.
