    I have bought junk from Taurus before and won't buy again. But friends have had perfect guns from them. I'd say check out IMPACT GUNS to get a look at what's out there.

    I paid $475 for my stainless MILSPEC with no problems. A bare bones Springer is a good choice in you want to add bells and whistles later. STI Spartan start around $600 so their are some good choices out there without breaking the bank.:)

    The 1911 has been around for yeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrssssss. It has stood the test of time and is still going strong. As far as Taurus their either great or horrible sorta roll the dice on them. It really depends how much you want to spend. A Springfield loaded is a good start.
