Yes - at my range too. I haven't done any quantitative analysis - just gut feel from what I see. Most of the AR shooters don't appear to be interested in developing real marksmanship skills either. Shooting at 25 yards, seeing how fast they can empty a magazine, etc. Sure, I joined the AR...
A milsurp M95 Steyr-Mannlicher carbine. Hardest kicking milsurp I own, and I have plenty Moisin-Nagants in various lengths. I'm a big guy and I'd rather shoot my 9.3x62 all day that that M95. For added fun shoot 1930's vintage ammo that will have frequent hang-fires. Pull trigger, wait a...
I have my go-to powders, then seem to end up with drip and drabs of stuff I was tinkering with. Some I know has been there a while, when I see a price tag of "$11.45" from a shop long out of business on a bottle.
Stuff I use a lot:
HP-38
H-110
WSF
TiteGroup
TiteWad
Unique
H-335
CFE-223
R-19...
The Wal-Mart in north Scottsdale, AZ used to carry a small amount of reloading stuff, but stopped that several years ago. Dillon HQ and retail store is right around the corner anyways.
<<How do you store and organize ammo for all these calibers? >>
I reload all those except the .22lr/wmr
I put the cartridges in 4x6 4mil poly bags that I seal with a bag sealer. Those bags are then put into ammo cans. .30-cal cans for rifle, .50-cal cans for pistol rounds. The cans are...
15 miles to great club with a 48 bench covered range out to 300 yards, an excellent sporting clays course and several specialty ranges for those involved with specific competitive shooting disciplines. Only $100 a year. There's a relatively new indoor range 4 miles from work that I joined last...
Nice. I have several of the 36's and a 49/56. The French guns are always in such good condition - only dropped once. ;-)
(Sorry - but you knew someone would say it.)
I've taken about 12 this year. I coach high school debate on the side and I've taken a number of the kids (and sometimes parents too) to the range, but only after they listen to a safety lecture and pass a safety test. After they learn the concept with a .22, I let them shoot an old war relic...
I have a Savage 25 in the .204 and it's easily my most accurate smallbore. It likes H335 (mag primer) behind Hornady 32 VMax, but almost every powder I tried gave respectable accuracy. Now a Marlin XL7 in .25-06 is another story. I'm about to give up on. Very inconsistent.
I had the same problem with a couple. I took a case mouth deburring tool and gave it a very light twist on the metal to make sure there weren't any burrs snaging the primers. Next, make sure the plastic cap is on as far as it can go. If there is any gap between the inside of the plastic cap...
@I6Turbo - I got the 550 American. I was tempted by the FS model but finally settled on the American. Good thing I am out of town this week so I don't sit around waiting for a call from my FFL. Pics and Range Report will be posted.
