The S&W M&P-22 is an excellent choice. The best IMHO the controls are identical to an AR-15 and the collapsible stock makes it short enough for kids to handle.

I have nothing to back this up, but I'm betting that its much higher. If nothing else, compare ammo prices from then to now. Then consider population growth and assuming a stable (if not growing) percentage of shooters/gun owners it would follow that there are more gun owners buying more guns...

Here in California, they've decided to go after ammo No lead hunting ammo in condor range, based on tree-hugger fears that it is poisoning these scavengers that were on their way to extinction anyway before being artificially propped up. Of course if lead is so deadly to the scavengers, then...

Yep, I always carry a Glock in an army surplus tanker holster whenever I backpack. It sits on the middle of my chest for the world to see. I have never(knocking on wood) had a problem in the woods.

Purely subjective Glocks are great and super reliable but thicker however it can carry 2x the ammo of a Kahr (G-17 vs CW-9) Kahr's are slimmer but reliable as well. What are you looking to do with the pistol? Kahr definitely has a concealability edge Try shooting both and see which one...
