Thanks! Looks like I’ll definitely pass!

    Excam Tangfolio TA22

I was at a local shop and ran across an Excam imported Tangfolio TA22 (or maybe TA76) .22 revolver. Older model with honest wear but still felt tight and crisp, and felt better than the Wrangler or Rough Rider when compared side to side. Anyone have experience with one of these? It looks...

    Flintlock confusion.....

I've got the Pedersoli Blue Ridge Rifle (bought back in the mid 90's) and have been happy with it. It's accurate and reliable. I did drill out the vent hole slightly, and there's a learning curve on keeping flints sharp (use real flints) and loading consistently, but I've had no trouble with...

    Savage 99C, what's it worth?

I sold one a few years ago to a dealer, got $400 for it. Probably could have gotten $500 or so from the right person, but didn't know where he was. It was a nice gun - I'd say $500 is probably about right.

Affordable Pellet Pistol to Improve Marksmanship?

I've got the Crosman 1377 - it's extremely accurate and on the upper end of velocity (for pistols) from what I can see. It is slow to pump and shoot, but the reward is great accuracy. I've shot a friends BB gun, a "magazine" fed CO2 powered M&P clone (I think by Umarex), and it was accurate...

    9mm?

I've never shot a Hi-power, but have shot a 92 and have a CZ 85b (ambi version of 75). The 85 is very accurate and reliable, and fits my small hands fairly well, and I like the safety better than the 92. The 92 is a nice shooter too, but in my experience the edge goes to the 75/85. I think...

    Gun show, decline in quality?

I'll echo what JohnBT said about the Richmond VA show. My son (6 yr. old) and I went for a few hours and had a good time - I think the show has actually improved over the last couple of years. There was a good variety of guns, ammo, components, knives, etc. I don't necessarily go for a deal...

    Remington 788 Any Advice

I've got a .243 788 - it looks cheap and utilitarian, but it is accurate, handy, and probably has one of the best triggers I've ever shot. It's my go-to gun for deer hunting.

    Winchester 1873

jkulysses - I've got one in .44-40, made in 1881 that looks nicely worn (and beautiful!) like yours. Same story, passed down through generations. I killed my first deer with it, and still hunt with it every now and then. Awesome piece of history!

Who here owns a 100 yr old + firearm that has ALWAYS been in the family?

I've got an 1873 (made in 1881) Winchester in .44-40, handed down on my father's side. Looks well used, but still shoots quite well - I killed my first deer a decade ago using it.

VA-ALERT: Improved restaurant ban repeal passes House and Senate!

I respect Kaine's authority to veto any legislation - it's an important part of the checks and balances. However, it irks me to no end that he will restrict freedom based on something he's concerned might be a problem, two times in a row. If the restaurants don't like guns on premises, they...

What's the oldest gun you own ?

Family heirloom 1873 Winchester in .44-40, built in 1881. Looks well used, but still tight and quite accurate. I killed my first deer with it.

    Pakistani 303 ammo

From what I've read, there is a tendency for hang-fires and misfires. I have no personal experience with it though.

    Triple K brand mags

Adding to the chorus, they have been horrible in my experience. Such a poor fit I didn't bother testing for reliability.

Oldest gun that you still shoot

Inherited 1873 Winchester (in .44-40) - actually killed my first deer with it a decade ago (while I was in high school).

    Why Flintlocks?

It seems like the majority of the hunters in my area are only trying to expand their season with inlines. I got a flintlock to learn a new set of skills, and there is a fascination for me to doing things well with less technology.

clean up of mil surplus rifle

I recently cleaned up the stock on a new-to-me Lee Enfield #4 Mark 2. After reading through a lot of information, I cleaned the stock with acetone and steel wool (apparently mineral spirits has a little oil in it that is left behind, while the acetone completely evaporates). I then finished...

I've got the RAMI 9mm. Reliable, accurate, conceals well on my relatively small frame. An excellent overall package.

High Noon Split Decision also - works very well for me.

    Mosin Nagant Choices

I'd say the M38. It seems slightly more difficult to find - I see the other two all over the place in all kinds of conditions.
