.348 Win Data NOT From Hodgdon

I have been working up some loads for my Winchester 71 chambered in .348 Winchester. Hornady now makes a Flex-Tip bullet for it. For an old/weird cartridge, it is a good performer. My problem is that I can't find reloading data using powder from anywhere but the Hodgdon family. Winchester...

Need a Load for a Ruger .44 Carbine

I am looking for a good load for the Ruger .44 Carbine. It is one of the old models made in the 1970's. One problem is that I am going to use it for deer hunting in Northern Minnesota. This is a problem because Hodgdon H110 and Winchester 296 (the same powder, I know) can cause pressure...

Difference Between RCBS Chargemaster and Lyman DPS III

My main question concerns speed. Lyman maintains that their DPS III is the fastest dispenser on the market. Has anyone compared these two products for speed? What about other characteristics (accuracy, fit and finish, et cetera)? Bringsteen

    JDS Quick Measure for 800-X

IMR 800-X meters poorly. When I load it, I have to use Lee Dippers. I have seen ads for the JDS Quick Measure in which they claim that it will not cut powder. Does anyone have experience with this measure? Would it be a good powder measure for 800-X and other hard-to-measure powders? For me...

    Progressive POWDERS for Pistol

I am curious about using progressive powders in pistols, i.e., powders that have a slower burn rate when they are ignited than when they are about to be fully burned. The advantage of progressive powder is that the max pressure occurs after the projectile has "gotten up to speed," so you can get...

How Do You Taper Crimp .40 S&W?

I reload 10mm Auto. My mother has a .40 S&W and she would like me to reload her empty brass. The problem is that I can't get my 10mm seating/crimping die to crimp the .40 S&W. It seems that the crimping ring is deeper in the die than the .40 can reach. Is there something I am missing? Why...

Dillon not What it Used to be?

On a recent thread someone mentioned that since Dillon was taken over by the owner's son, the quality of the presses has deteriorated slightly. Is this true? Can anyone substantiate this claim? I am not asking about the quality or utility of Dillon presses overall; I am asking about any...

Using 7.62 NATO BRASS in a Civilian .308

I know about the dangers of using commercially loaded .308 rounds in a rifle chambered in 7.62x51. What about reloading 7.62x51 brass using .308 dies and then shooting them out of a civilian .308? Is this practical?
