Shooting guns without all your fingers?

Thanks for all the replies and well wishes! I do believe that they should not be considered "handicapped", once their surgeries are done I hope they will be quite self-sufficient and not really require any aid or help for daily chores. From what I've read of the pollicization surgery it will be...

Shooting guns without all your fingers?

I'm wondering if anyone here has less than the complete set of fingers and is a shooter? All your experiences are welcome though the most relevant are if you lack a thumb. It's not for me I am asking but my newborn twin sons (identical) who have Holt Oram syndrome, which affects the...

Reloading 223, powders & filling ratios

Thanks for your answer. It is something of a mystery right now what will work best, I was going for using real load data as a base, N135 and bullets in the 75gr area seems to provide the numbers I am looking for in "simulation". Been feeding it into QL and testing the various powders. N135...

Reloading 223, powders & filling ratios

I'm going to start reloading .223 with my own cast bullets pretty soon, I got a 65gr and 75gr design I am going to work on, I think the 75gr one will be more suited to my needs though, easier to work with heavier bullets and slower velocities. I am limited to VV powders where I am so I was...

    Revolver firelapping prep

Okay I am pretty sure I am going to just get this over with and firelap my revolver. I plan to write what I am going to do and if you guys got any pointers it'd be appreciated. I reamed the throats on this gun that where undersized and it reduced leading quite a bit. Still leads though and...

Spikes Tactical or Daniel Defense AR

Daniel Defense all the way here, and I own a Spikes Tactical! They both make great guns but DD is the sharper of the two I would say. But thats not really what sways me in the direction of the DD gun, it's he DD rail, that design is the superior one, you don't want all that useless rail-estate...

Slip on recoil pads that fit a Rossi lever?

I looked at the galco and from the specs it's too large.

Slip on recoil pads that fit a Rossi lever?

Anyone know what slip-on recoil pads there are out there that will fit on a Rossi 92 or Win 1892 levergun? I want to increase the length of pull on my gun and I have already squared off the buttstock by filling the semi-crescent with epoxy. To finish it off I would like a slipon buttpad for...

Finally got some Ballistol, cleaning agent

I have bought some Ballistol as well, because if Hickok45 endorses it I am willing to give it a try :) Now I read that BP shooters and people who shoot corrosive ammo like to mix it to a 9:10 ratio with water. I am just wondering if you can use that for every day smokeless cleaning too? I...

    My new S&W K22 Masterpiece

I'm not sure if it'd work as a touch up method or not, but maybe fume bluing could work? It's sort of like rust bluing but you use a box where you create an acidic atmosphere, it should theoretically not react with extant bluing and only include oxidation in bare metal. Then boil & card & repeat...

    Who Makes This Sight?

Yeah, it's also I think a similar design to what comes on the Benelli M4. I am considering ghost rings for my 870 but I think I will go with the Scattergun sights.

    Model 87 Lever Action Shotgun

Does the two-shot adapter in make it more difficult to use normally in any way? I mean loding one at a time and such when you are not competing.

    Model 87 Lever Action Shotgun

I've read a lot of bad things about Chiappas other levers so in that respect I think I'd rather have a Norinco 1887, for the same kinda money as a Chiappa you can buy an already tuned and fixed up Norinco 1887 from Coyote Cap anyway. That would be my choice if I lived in America.

    N110 and 44 magnum

Shot the hand loads today out of my 629. Big thump and lots of leading from what it looks like and after a few shots it was really hard to open the cylinder release. The center pin had worked loose and I hand tightened it, but that did not seem to help any. Chronoed the rounds and found they...

    N110 and 44 magnum

I didn't check that carefully, I just tossed a bunch of clay pigeons onto the backstop 50 yards away and I got most of them :p Next time I will make up a bigger load and make sure I got all of my chrono with me

    N110 and 44 magnum

BTW the stats on my revolver wrt bore size are .429" in the bore and .430" (possibly a smidgeon smaller. 4295" or so) in the cylinder throats, they are on the smaller side. I bought a 429421 Keith mold via castboolits last year that I still haven't had the chance to use, it casts a whole .434"...

    N110 and 44 magnum

The bullets are hardcast lead and the lube likewise is quite hard. I would've thought it should work better with a harder load based on what I've gleamed from the casters bible*. I've heard N110 can make a mess if loaded too light OTOH. * = From Ingot to Target: A Cast Bullet Guide for...

    N110 and 44 magnum

Tested the rounds today and they sure kick! Sadly I forgot some vital parts to my Chrono so I couldn't test and see how fast they went. But they sure kick more than the commerical 240gr magtechs. My .44spl rounds are kittens by comparison. I could only check for obvious signs of overpressure but...

    N110 and 44 magnum

Yeah the brass I have takes less than that, it tooks about 2.4ml while QL assumes 2.57ml, not sure what it is in grains of water as I don't have QL with me at the moment. Loaded 20.4 grains according to the loading data, also made some own rounds using 20 grains and a 225gr lead bullet. What...

    N110 and 44 magnum

I verified the loads on my RCBS 505 and digital scale (I am a bit OCD about weighing)
