Do not get the thing unless it's the newer Bushmaster with the normal bolt carrier, recoil buffer, stock assembly and gas block/sight assembly.
I had one of the POS CARBON-15's. The recoil buffer fell apart and looking it over it was best just to replace it with a normal CAR buttstock...
I agree with rcmodel.
Standard military barrel length was 20" for years for the M-16 in 5.56NATO. The round was designed for that length.
Start cutting bbl length you start losing velocity. Lose velocity lose penetration that simple.
I've looked at Sigmas and I've owned Glocks. Nothing about the Sigma has ever given me the urge to buy one.
If you can't tell why the $200 difference exists well there are no quick fixes I know of for someone's IQ.
To me from what I can tell by the picture in question. It looks like rust pitting that has been blown over by continued firing.
And I'd hazard a guess it was from corrosive ammo residue.
Though I won't rule out poor QC.
Well I like mine.
Shoots great out to 25yds which is beyond what most guns like this are designed for.
Has never jammed.
Plus it also has the ability to take the 17 round mags if need be.
And, unless they dropped it Advantage Arms makes a nifty .22lr conversion kit for...
Forget aftermarket junk.
Both CDNN and Cheaper Than Dirt have used Sig Mags.
The ones I got from CDNN were factory refinished ones. Looked top notch to me.
Question is how cheap is your life? :uhoh:
For Pete's Sake, just go scrounge up a SKS.
By the time you paid a smith the money to properly do the job, as I'm seing possible feeding and ejection problems here for a Enfield, you'd be into a half way decent Yugo SKS.
Either my Sig 226 or AMT(chock full o' Wilson parts) Hardballer.
Head shots at that range with either would be simple.
I'd prefer to use my Colt M-4 Sporter though.
Get what ever fits your hand but I'd go CPO Sig 220.
It's a used gun but checked over at SIG before being re-sold.
I own a 226 like that and she's a joy already broken in before I got her. :D
Yes I'd go down there.
I'm in the process if changing jobs.
But if this remains an on going deal I will be up for going to any ops they have going on in TX, NM or AZ; as soon as practical for me to go.
In the mean time I'm trying to gather a group to go down there from my area.
Besides why beat the snot out of a rifle that is out of production, with hot loads?
If you want nice and relatively cheap shooting reload for your milsurps like I do. Tailor your loads to your rifles and you'd be amazed at the results you get on the target.
