    Aaaargh! Broken Remington Sportsman 58

I would use Titebond III, it has the added benefit of being waterproof, having better open time and having a browner stain in it. I am more wood worker than hunter! I am called the glue lady by my friends. I have bottle of Titebond II as well, but I like III better. Fine woodworking just ran...

    The 336 Club

To Nema and Fast Frank, I will take both to heart! I WILL report back about the managed recoil ammo, I already bought a box to try. I do intend to sight in and practice before getting the porkers mad! My mom shot at them with a handgun (and missed) and had to run back to the door, they were...

    The 336 Club

managed recoil 30-30 remingtons in 336 I just inherited a 336 30-30, and I need to kill some feral hogs with it. Last time I shot this rifle was when I was 16, that was 40 years ago... and I am female. I did get a couple of the porkers last week with slugs from my shotgun, but my shoulder hated...

    Marlin 1894 Club

Anybody ever use the .357 for varmints??? I have feral hogs, just got 2 of them with 20 gauge slugs, but my shoulder is talking to me, I am 56 and female. I just inherited a 336 in a 30-30 that is off being cleaned up (my dad hadn't taken good care or shot it for decades), but the .357 caught my...

feral hogs to kill - bullet and rifle confusion

The farm is in Hays county west of Kyle. I go back and forth, I live in Austin, I know... an oxymoron for a gun owner and advocate. Titan, In Texas a landowner does not need a license, but anyone else coming onto my property does. Texas is, indeed, gun friendly. The new laws about carrying...

feral hogs to kill - bullet and rifle confusion

I hefted a SKS today in the 7.62x39, heavier than the kel tec, but lighter than the Marlin 336 30-30 I inherited. I may go back and look again, AND, I will get the Marlin back out and give it a whirl. You are right about things changing with age. I can lift double the weight at 56 than I could...

feral hogs to kill - bullet and rifle confusion

Thanks Titan6... a bit clearer for me. I was totally confused when I left the gun shop. $700-900 is not bad, that is the price range I was looking at. BTW, in Texas on your land you can kill feral hogs anyway you want, any caliber, anytime, from any position. They are destructive!

feral hogs to kill - bullet and rifle confusion

If the 7.62x39 is used with a 5 lb gun, would that give more recoil? The Kel Tec I looked at was that light without the magazine.

feral hogs to kill - bullet and rifle confusion

Oh geez... maybe I should buck up and get the Marlin out? Now I realize, it was a 7.62 39 caliber... that he was talking about. Also too small?

feral hogs to kill - bullet and rifle confusion

I used to shoot as a kid and into my 20s, lately... except for occasionally making certain the shotgun and .38 work, not much shooting except a .22 for fun. My dad died this year and my mom wants to stay on the farm and as they say in Texas, there are only 2 kinds of places, those with hogs and...
