    SW1911 vs Sig 220ST

MJRW you're right. I own a sig 220 and I should know better than to mistake light trigger for light gun... silly me. Seriousely, I agree, they are vastly different guns. The standard P 220 is around 27 oz dry.. the ST is more than a couple oz heavier. I'll be honest and say that I...

    SW1911 vs Sig 220ST

I hope you're kidding. P 220ST is heavy, so I'll suppose you meant the sig P 220 (standard). If I were you, I'd go with the better, more proven pistol. I'm sure S&W stands behind their product 100% (if not their principals), but I'd get the sig p 220. It's the /smart/ choice. Lemme...

    The Slidelock Issue

G "---sharp rocks at the bottom? Bring it on." Hey, I call it as I see it. I remember a quote from a statement made by former Attourney General, Janet Reno.. goes something like this "cult members are... ...marked by frequent Bible studies... ...abnormal affinity for guns..." Well, I...

Got the Autauga crowned and ported. (pic)

one question: would there be any loss in bullet velocity with that new muzzle-flip countermeasure? I was wondering if that might effectually shorten the barrel by dropping pressure behind the bullet too soon.

    The Slidelock Issue

Nightcrawler I might help to answer your question on 1911 health with a soon-to-be-said-to-be-uninformed-opinion. IMO, the 1911 is by far, in America the most reported, adjusted, customized, revered, worshipped, scoffed, and studied autoloaded handgun around. You will find more people and...

    The Slidelock Issue

I copy. Tactical reloading, as I've heard that practice to be named, is very common in the 1911 scheme of things, and dies off gradually the further you get from military folks. I think it's a great idea, provided: 1. The weapon will fire without a magazine present 2. The user, by much...

    Range report: Bersa .380

Sorry, no picture. Some weeks back, I was looking for a good comfort/carry piece. MN has a new law...a good one. I was looking around at a local gun store and found this sized-right Bersa Thunder .380 and asked to see it. The price was low, considering the other options they had. (this store...

Why Not More Gas Operated Pistols?

Ever seen ... those Metal Storm guns? Although not the same, I've a feeling that producing/innovating those might take a higher priority in the future of firearms. They are electrically fired, preloaded clips(barrels) that can be designed to fire one projectile per trigger pull, or the...

    Manual Safety-Yes or No

Not all guns apply to this one, but I've found my DA/SA .380 to be quite cumbersome in the safety lever department, so in the interest of sparing my thumb a few blisters (from practice), I'd just as soon leave the safety alone. Call me a lightweight, but I have better things to do than wrap...

    BUL M5/Charles Daly 1911

Has Charles Daly... Given up on the "jungle shop" method of putting their pistols together? I bought one new 3 years ago ... a two-tone .45 with ambidextrous safety. Sharp looking gun...but FTFs galore, even with factory ball. The slide rattled. The fancy looking skeletonized trigger was...

What wrong with this picture? (SIG)

Lighter shades... on the controls, screws, hammer, and trigger... (these "accents" could me new to their newer models, though) And I agree with the earlier post... missing screw above the trigger.

    27 or 33, yes, a .40 S&W or a .357 sig.

so, did they give.. any reference point as to the "stopping power." A very subjective part of a study, I know, but IMO flesh and bone may yield just a small amount of difference between 480 fp and 580 fp... Good research, though. Think of BG at 4 feet away and you may as well focus more...

    Manual Safety-Yes or No

Safety... For those that are familiar enough with pistols to know how to be safe with them... a safety is only an additional measure. If the pistol is a DA/SA, I wouldn't bother with the safety, unless the mere fact that the manufacturer included it was for necessity, and not politics. If not...

Okay hotshots, what's wrong with THIS picture?

Nice looking gun.. Unlike the Glock, those slide rails say "long service life." But I'm sure the Glock will do fine. (my statement here is to avoid the long list of Glock fan posts) It's a funny thing, but that slide, barrel, and trigger probably each took way more shop time than the...

    27 or 33, yes, a .40 S&W or a .357 sig.

.357 maybe a better round... .357 maybe a better round, however, the .40 s&w is fast becoming more popular. That's probably because the casings look less complex.. .40 ammo will probably cost less, unless you reload. BTW, the .357 sig casings are the same length (roughly) and circumference...

Okay hotshots, what's wrong with THIS picture?

powder mag?! Gads! I thought that was a 19th century vacuum cleaner.. Is that a Galco holster ... lefty, at that. It's interesting that something could have such a complete (looking) subframe.. No trigger guard.. actually some SA's had no trigger guards, the pocket guns of...

Okay hotshots, what's wrong with THIS picture?

No gun... "I don't see a gun in your picture..." (This would be a G-man's answer) Also that pocket knife looks like it was pasted in with a 'lil bit of Photoshop shadowing. -er... uh... really bad lighting. (Looks like one of those "Dangerous Items" airport signs)
