Sorry, it was a long day. :) its a 30-06, 22 7/8" barrel with 1/11 twist (Tikka T3).
We had good luck with the factory federal loads of the MRX, but those aren't available anymore, and they were never more than about 1.5 MOA, which is ok for hunting but I think we can do better now that we're...
I am wondering if anyone is using IMR4350 with the Barnes 180gr TSX or MRX? My wife and I took the MRX to Africa for plains game with spectacular results, so I bought a box of the (sadly now discontinued) bullets and I'm wondering if anyone has tried the heavy Barnes with the IMR4350?
Barnes...
IIRC, the run times are something like N = 150hrs, AA = 200hrs, AA Lithium = 400hrs, CR123 = 1100hrs.
I think the 516 is brand-new, I don't see them in stock anywhere yet. Which is a shame, because I really want one. :D
Can you put a 9mm conversion barrel in a G35 (effectively making it a G34) and use it for IDPA competition?
The rules seem to say that you can't use a replacement barrel in a caliber not offered by the manufacturer, but since the G34 and G35 are near identical, would it be legal?
Just...
Bear in mind that many people find the .40 to 'feel' like it recoils *more* than the .45, though sometimes .45 pistols are pretty large for a small-handed female, which can be a problem.
The HK and SIG are both solid recommendations.

+1 for USP compact.
Without starting the debate over calibers again, the main difference between 40 and 45 in a carry gun is usually magazine capacity; you can debate the relative merits of 6+1 .45 vs 9+1 .40 all you like.
Like they said. If you're really used to 1911-style safety, and you always always always wipe the safety off when you draw no matter what, then carry a gun that works the same way - the Springfield EMP 9mm would be great for that kind of thing, or some other subcompact 1911.
If you ever...
So long as you keep your fingers and foreign objects off the trigger, Glocks are very very good at not going off.
However, you *do* have to pay attention and use a holster - there are more NDs with Glocks on the books than with any other firearm issued to LE by a large margin. Why...
I know the PM9 had 'issues' when it first came out, those are well documented. Left a bad taste in peoples mouths, but most guns have issues when they're first released. I also know there's a lot of fans of the PM9 out there who say they've never had an issue.
My question is this:
Are the...
I use specially machined lathe-formed hand-loaded 50BMGs for home defense. :neener:
No, seriously, it's mostly Ranger T's for my home defense gun, which I guess count as 'expensive hollowpoint ammo' at nearly $1 a round.
For 45 carbines, don't forget HK. The USC is tac-driver-accurate and works with 45 super (in limited quantities) as well.
