I think that change took place in 1963.

How to make your own primers?

USSR & sqlbullet - I don't think that cost is the incentive behind the thread.

New to reloading, going to buy a Kempf's Lee Turret Kit BUT--

The thing is, they list different included accessories, depending on whether you buy the pistol kit or the rifle kit. Which way is better to go as the base kit?

New to reloading, going to buy a Kempf's Lee Turret Kit BUT--

OK, I'm finally going to start reloading, and have chosen to go with the Kempf Kit with the Lee Classic Turret Press, but here's my dilema. To start, I plan to reload .45 ACP and 30-06 for my M1. Do I get the pistol caliber kit and then buy 30-06 dies, or get the rifle caliber kit and...

    Transport to NYS

You should be fine with long guns, but be aware that NYS still has an assault weapons ban in effect worded exactly the same way as the federal ban was.

    Transport to NYS

I understand your post, and it is correct--but the intent of my statement was in regards to someone who actually WAS passing through NYS to (and from) a state where they could legally own the pistol. My point being, even though they were in the right ('protected' by the federal law that...

    Transport to NYS

Unfortunately, (at least for now) there is no provision on the books for you to legally do what you want to do--unless you were to have a family member who is a resident of NY and a permit holder add the firearm to their permit, and then have the gun shipped from your FFL to theirs. NY does...

    NYS Application Suggestion

The same rules apply for hunting with a handgun (must be concealed), but it is not uncommon to see hunters walking around in small town restaurants and even in bar/restaurants with shoulder-holstered revolvers in plain sight and noone says a thing about it (incl. LEOs, who at times are doing the...

    NYS Application Suggestion

NYS permits are for CONCEALED carry only. As for the original poster, everything in NY varies by county. I happen to be in a county that pretty much only issues unrestricted permits, and without much fuss or hassle. As a matter of fact, I was concerned about what to put for that answer...

    Ithaca 37s and cracked stocks

I understand what you're saying, but if the crack can be seen on the outside of the stock (running from the receiver edge back toward the butt), I wouldn't think that this would be a viable option.

    Ithaca 37s and cracked stocks

I appreciate the info, but have a dumb question. (Again, all this is academic--I have not picked up a 37 yet) Once I take off the cracked stock, you don't mean for me to pull the pieces apart to glue, right? Simply find some way to 'inject' some glue into the crak, and then clamp it tight...

    Ithaca 37s and cracked stocks

I've been doing a lot of looking at shotguns recently, and it seems very common to find Ithaca 37s with cracked stocks. Most of the for sale ads mention this as no big deal, and it appears to be common in this model. My question is, can you use and fire a 37 with a cracked stock? Is there...

Why all the disinformation about shipping long guns?

Being a New Yorker, this is one of those things that annoy me. There is no law on the books that states that a firearm must come from an FFL. The NY State Police have stated that that is the way that they want it done. No legislation, just an order by a police organization. Doesn't seem...

Why all the disinformation about shipping long guns?

I've been through the same frustration as you right here on this sight. Happened awhile back when I posted a long gun for sale, and was criticized in my for sale post by a member who felt I could not legally ship the rifle. He was wrong, and I proved it within the post. (The rifle sold...

Man arrested for (legally) open carrying AK47, scaring people.

I have not read all 179 posts, and if this is a dupe, I'm sorry. If this thread had started "I saw this guy walkin' down my street with an AK today, so I..." almost every damn one of these posters would have advocated retreating to a safe place and drawing down on him. While I agree...

    SOB carry

I agree w/ Glockman--he gave a legitimate reason against SOB carry. I think maybe some of the allure is due to Dick Marcinko. (I know he's why I bought an SOB holster for my G27!) Thing is, the more I read, the less I care for Old "Demo Dick".

    SOB carry

Again, and I certainly mean no disrespect whatsoever, I keep hearing "you might" or "if I had". Again, I don't advocate SOB simply because it isn't practical, but I could just as easily start an "anti 3:00" carry or similar.

    SOB carry

I have yet to read or hear of a 1st hand account of someone falling and injuring themselves (either major or minor) while carrying SOB. Not one. In addition, falling on a gun carried on your hip can seriously injur you as well--a broken pelvis would be no picnic. All that being said, SOB...
