    .223 or slugs?

Good points all folks. It is true that at close range encounters I would always reach for a shotgun and I doubt I'll ever need long range fire power in a defensive scenario. So I guess for me getting a rifle is one of those things I just feel I need to get and would be nice to have for the sake...

    .223 or slugs?

Given a choice between a shotgun loaded with slugs only and any .223 chambered rifle, which would you choose and why? The purpose would be general, that is, home defense, hunting, dedicated car/truck firearm etc. I have this really strong urge to get a .223 rifle but have to justify getting...

Tell me what you think is effective defensive ammo

I'm not an expert but I have to agree with clubsoda22 on the Pow'rball having better flight characteristics since it's rounded nose makes it more aerodynamic. I always thought that hollow points tend to have more drag since the bullet cavity has a larger and flatter frontal area than fmjs or...

If you put a real load in a pistol, it does

I remember now...Gomer was your handle right? Booted twice IIRC.

You sound alot like a guy who was booted from Glock Talk for posting alot of nonsense.

Tell me what you think is effective defensive ammo

Big , heavy, and just quick enough makes sense. But doesn't speed account for effective penetration as well? Some additional info I read somewhere before stated that Massad Ayoub, IIRC or one the known shooting experts (please correct me if I'm wrong) prefers to use fmj for defensive carry...

Tell me what you think is effective defensive ammo

Just finished reading Cor Bon's website. They advertise the Pow'rball 165 grain +P at 1225 fps and 550 ft/lbs of energy. Sounds good to me but I wonder if a pistol can take these pressures without damaging something if I put 300-500 rounds to see if it is compatible with my gun. But I think...

Tell me what you think is effective defensive ammo

What ammo do you use in your everyday carry sidearm and why? Personally,I currently use the 185 grain Golden Saber jhp in my USP .45 but considering switching to Cor Bon's Pow'rball because it seems to offer the best of both worlds in terms of penetration/expansion and all comments about it so...

    HK USP round count

Thanks for the replies. It made me think that why would an HK be any better than a Glock if it lasted that many rounds only, and for the price of HKs,you'd expect them to last forever.

    HK USP round count

I would like to ask how many rounds the Hk USP,particularly in .45,is good for.I have read in some forums that it is good for only a certain amount of rounds and an average of 30,000 rounds of +p ammo. This info was taken from HK's website under reviews. Why is this so? Many say that the HK is...

    Teflon through a Glock?

Greetings. What are your takes on using teflon coated reloads through your Glock?I ask coz it seem an ideal alternative to using lead and FMJs have the potential to wear out a barrel(if possible) faster than lead which I have read on several threads. Has anyone tried this?

    Colt 1911 quality

Thanks for the advice. So I assume that if I get a Colt with the new roll marks I should be ok?

    Colt 1911 quality

I read over at the Pistolsmith that old 1911s and the new ones were/are of exeptional quality and that the ''middle'' Colts were the ones that lacked quality control and subsiquently gave other manufacturers like springfield and kimber the lead in the 1911 sales. So which dates are inclusive...

    slide interchangeability??

Are all 1911 slides interchangeable?,that is,can I use a lets say,a Charles Daly slide on a Colt series80? I would really like a Caspian 1911 slide but lots of people say that there are compatibility problems. Any advice? Thanks ahead:)

    More problematic Glocks

It makes me wonder why so many people are having the same kinds of problems with Glocks...breechface collapse!! The KB issue was bad enough, now there is cracking slides and broken frames and probably more that havnt been reported yet. http://glocktalk.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=164324...

Are Glocks as tough as they claim?

1911 Tuner Good analysis, all the points you made were right on.GuessI'll keep my Glock and hope that it isnt one of the lemons. Im really reluctant to let it go,the only pistol I have owned that has yet to malfunction. Guess the horrors of breech face failures and cracking slides in Glocks...

Are Glocks as tough as they claim?

As a result of my paranoia,I detail stripped my Glock and I noticed a trangular shaped mark on the breech face.At first I didnt notice it since it was partially covered by the extractor then I shone a light and it became clearer. It could be a machining mark because it appears to be a perfect...

    Taurus608 or 669?

What are your experiences with these magnum revolvers? Im planning to get one but have to decide between the two. I like the 6 inch model, looks intimidating, but considering the 4 inch also for carry and I dont care much for the ported models. Price is not bad at all and to my relatively...

Are Glocks as tough as they claim?

Thanks guys,my confience in Glocks has returned somewhat.I really would like to believe that I have a sturdy, reliable weapon that Glocks are known to be.I still think that my Glock is a great gun and the most reliable I have ever had the pleasure of owning, almost 4000 rounds and not a SINGLE...
