    1911 A1 Needa a barrel and mainspring

That is kind of the plan, I am looking for a shooter grade barrel. The Barrel (original) looks near new. My neighbor's dad was a dentist in the Navy, so I don't think he had a call to fire it much. The guy I got it from has been my neighbor for 30 years, So I have a pretty good idea how much...

Why do people sell guns that are allegely "NIB" and "never fired"

My grandfather purchased a Winchester 94 about 6 months before he died he never took it out of the box after he brought it home. My grandmother had it for a few decades, and I eventually got it about 13 years ago. I don't even own a box of 30-30's so I have never shot it. It is packed away...

    DWM Luger

So I am thinking its time to add a Luger to my collection. I am aware there are many factors that can contribute or detract to the value beyond the obvious condition, matching numbers, etc. I have narrowed it down to a early/prewar year, but beyond that i need to gather some more info...

    wall safe/cabinet for long guns?

Check into a large electrical box. You can most likley pick one up at a junk yard, that has been removed from a commercial property pretty cheap. Rip out the guts and you are all set. A friend of mine is a electrician did this in his garage, for a place to store valuable stuff.

Back in the day, my grandfather picked up 4 1903 springfields at the rock island arsenal. He hand selected them, and sporterized 2 of them. I have 1 uncut, and 1 sporterized of the original 4. He paid $25 each at the time.

    M2 in WWII aircraft wings

Each aircraft in WW2 had its own mechanic assigned to it. This person was called the Crew Chief All guns would have been removed from the aircraft upon RTB (return to Base) They would have been a stock item, and replaced with fresh serviced and put into another aircraft in rotation...

Declining Quality and Craftsmanship is VERY Frustrating!!!

While I 100% agree with you. There should be no need to inspect a firearm from a "quality" manufacturer. Did you have a opportunity to inspect it before you signed the papers? Most reputable dealers assuming they agreed there was a problem would allow you to reject it even if it were a special...
