    "Will a .45ACP kill a Grizzly?"

This 45 will stop a Grizz-its called the 45-08-and its pretty ridiculous, but awsome for 1911 fans- AS for all this talk about what will kill a grizzly, when i was 19 (7 years ago) i killed a grizzly at 25 Metres with a single 30-30 shell to the neck, with two more on principle...at dusk...

    10mm v. 40 & 9mm v. 380

I am very intrigued by this thread, as it speaks to the issue of what auto's are capable of....up here in Northern BC Bears are a big issue, and one local smith has created an interesting solution...read his website posting below... More news on the .45 ACP "bear Gun" aka the .45-08 Armco...

Iron Sight Installation on Heavy Barrel?

I am looking to install a set of low profile back-up sights on my .308 heavy barrel....it is a Howa 1500 Varminter Supreme. I am sure this will provoke numerous responses alone... I know that people will have differing perspectives on whether this is a good idea....suffice to say that as...

    .300 Win Mag-any exp?

I have used a 300 win mag on both moose and elk at less than 200 Metre ranges...devestating in all cases, overkill for deer, but with appropriate shot placement that should not be much of an issue. I am also looking to have a cross-over long range competition/hunting rifle, and in northern BC...

Need some advice on a .22 for the Wife to use

Zinc and the P22 Hi guys, i am in the same situation, in terms of picking up a 22 for the wife. I will admit that i like the look and feel of the P22 for my wife, she handled one a couple of months ago, and it fit well.... however.... In researching the P22 it is made out of a 'zinc alloy'...

    .300 Win Mag VS .308

Competitions Outlaw, that sounds like sage advice. Would a Savage 110 in 300WM, with aftermarket investment on my part, equal an entry level rifle in 300WM for competition, providing i can find some competitions close to home?

    .300 Win Mag VS .308

good point Bartowski, two guns are wise for such disparate uses, 75 to 4-500 metres, but in my experience, in Northeast British Columbia, i have seen most of my animals at less than 200, but some beautiful (and wary) Trophys (sp?) at the end of large cutblocks, far away on Transmission Line...

    .300 Win Mag VS .308

Ethical Shots... Thank you MCgunner, for raising a good point....the ethical shot. I am sure this is a topic near and dear to all hunters. My hope is to be able to hit a pie plate at 500. Granted, thats a Big IF, but IF i had that ability, which i hope a 300/308 will give me, I would take...

    .300 Win Mag VS .308

the 30-06? My dad actually suggested the 30-06 this morning...it is a rightfully recognized classic, and with the 180's it should haved terminal performance....but i worry about the ability at the farther ranges....i have seen massive Bears and Moose at the 400-1000 ranges, but cant ethically...

    .300 Win Mag VS .308

Thank you all for your responses.... I thought that a heavy load with 308 would be ok for closer range work less than 300 Metres up to and including moose. But it is that long range potential that makes me question the 308, as good a cartridge as it is....and meat damage is decided by bullet...

    .300 Win Mag VS .308

Hi Everyone. This is my first post, so please excuse the length. I was wondering what people thought of the 300 Win Mag as an all around hunting caliber versus the .308? I am aware that the 300 Win Mag has more velocity, bullet weight (typically), and less 'drop' than the 308...
