    Low Profile Iron Sights

It's been awhile since I've looked down the sight of an M1 Carbine and I've never used the MBUS. I use a carry handle rear sight on my AR and love the larger aperture for anything closer than 100 yards. The MBUS is nice if you need a secondary sight, but I'd suggest looking for a "full" rear...

    Video: CCW sound metering

I shot .357 magnum rounds out of my Ruger Sp101 with a 3" barrel without hearing protection once. ...once...

Removing crud/lead/goo from firing .38's in .357 Single Actions

I've tried all of these methods with my Ruger SP101 over the past couple of months and none of them seemed to work worth the trouble of doing them. :(

The next time someone says "no one uses an AR to hunt"

What a person legally uses a firearm for has nothing to do with whether it should be banned or not. That being said, I would call one 62 gr. soft point through the heart while running a humane kill.

I have a relative that is a gunsmith in Madison if that is something you are looking for.

    New York Brinks and Loomis

I haven't thought about that until now. It's pretty clear they didn't think through the law when they passed it. I wonder if they'll add a provision in the law like they have to do for police officers.

I grow weary of people saying the Founders

I was recently reading the District of Columbia v. Heller opinion written by Justice Scalia. He made the comment, as some others have mentioned, that other parts of the constitution have been applied to modern things such as telephones and cars. "Some have made the argument, bordering on the...

Repeating firearms before the U.S. Revolution

I was recently reading the District of Columbia v. Heller opinion written by Justice Scalia. He made the comment, as some others have mentioned, that other parts of the constitution have been applied to modern things such as telephones and cars. "Some have made the argument, bordering on the...

    Can a .223/AR kill a deer?

Yes, it can! Federal Fusion 62 grain JSP at 30 yards, broadside, full run. It went straight through the heart, no broken ribs, the deer dropped dead. Entry: Exit:

    .223 for whitetail

I took down a nice Wisconsin northwoods doe on Saturday with a 62 grain Federal Fusion bullet at 25 to 30 yards. It looked like the bullet expanded right under the skin, went in about one inch behind the shoulder, exploded the heart and then exited the far side. It was almost exactly broadside...

    Need an Opinion on Slugs

Last year I was able to purchase a rifled barrel with rifle sights for about half what they normally sell for. I didn't have a rifle at that time, so I figured I'd give it a try. I went through $80 of fancy sabot slugs trying to find which one grouped the best with none coming out on top with a...

What's the consensus on this AR? Palmetto State Armory

I love my PSA 20" upper!

    First Time Grouse Hunter Help

While running a 26 miles trap line on an ATV for two weeks on October I would see 3 - 8 grouse every day. They were generally right on the sides of logging roads (narrow and wide) and wouldn't flush until I was right on them. I wanted to get out and get a few for dinner, but I never had the...

I've never seen much on the FG-42. It's another piece of amazing engineering from the germans!

    Testing Obama's Theory

I don't think a semi-auto AK-47 (or an AR-15, for that matter) is any more dangerous than other rifle. It's the user, not the inanimate object!

    Palmetto State Armory

I recently purchased parts from PSA to build an ar-15. I purchased everything from them except the stripped lower and stock assembly. I had about 3 or 4 shipments because of the amount of items ordered and forgetting things I needed. They mixed up was was sent and not sent in the first...

    AR-15 stocks

That is an interesting question. It does seem like the only time I see people shooting with the stock "in the pocket" is for competition or the Magpul videos where the stance is very aggressive.

    The $1,000 AR15

I recently built a lower on a stag receiver and then purchased a complete upper from Palmetto State Armory. It ended up being around 900, even with a few nicer extras like a chromed BCG and magazines. It's run great through 500 rounds!

Help me find a 20" AR upper?

After putting 500 rounds through my PSA 20" upper I am very glad I went with them! It's been great so far.
