    Bud's Gunshop mystery 5906s

Hey everyone. I was scrolling through Buds yesterday and noticed that they had some S&W 5906s in stock. What is curious is the price point: just north of 700, when alot of police trades go for much less. The description says these are new, and may have been display guns. The description offers...

    Planning a persuasive speech

Mods: If this is the wrong area, please feel free to move. Greetings everyone, I am doing a persuasive speech for a college class in favor of the second amendment and against any further gun control measures. I've found some great sources, like the department of justice statistics, and I...

Carrying in NC on a UT non-resident permit

Most people get the Utah permits because it has reciprocity in the most states. My thing was I was stationed in Utah for two years and got it while I was there. I since went to Korea, PCS'ed out, and now I'm back in NC visiting family for the Holidays before my next assignment (Japan). Thanks...

Carrying in NC on a UT non-resident permit

I was wondering if I can legally carry in NC, as an NC citizen, with a Utah non-resident permit? I know NC has reciprocity with UT, but I don't want to get hung up on a technicality. I got the permit when I lived in Utah, and since I moved to Korea, I updated the address of the permit to my home...

    The Brick

My thumbs and index fingers hurt enough from loading the old butler creek 30 round magazines during a range trip. I can only imagine the nightmare of loading one that's 500 rounds .

Kel Tec Continues to innovate, 30 rds of 22WMR due out 2Q 2010

Did anyone else think of the Five-Seven when they saw the picture and magazine capacity? Neat little range toy, if nothing else. I know people using .22s have been known to kill, but personally I'm leary about using one as a defensive weapon.

If all your guns had to come from one manufacturer...

Either Colt or S&W. Both make solid handguns and decent AR's. I'd hate to give up my Glocks, but Glock hasn't jumped on the AR bandwagon (or anything other than their basic, proven design bandwagon yet).

SHTF What is coming with me?

I'm gonna have to go with my Glock 19 on this one.

Lethal force,an explanation from an expert

I agree on this. There was an article I read a while back, written by Mas in American Handgunner magazine that dealt with a guy who worked in a store. I don't remember the specifics, but it boiled down to the BG shooting the worker with a .22 revolver (in the head, no less), taking the guy's...

    military members of thr

    1) E-5 SSgt 2) USAF 2A0X1P (EWS) 3) Just over 6 years now. Haven't deployed yet. 4) I qualify on the M-16A2. The ones they have us qualify on are much like alot of the range rental guns: loose and beat up. I've had a couple of them go burst on me when they were on semi. Most of the problems seem...

Are you sick of accessory rails?

Yes I'm sick of them. They aren't so bad on Glocks, but they screw-up the looks on Sigs and Berettas. What's more, to get a good, non-railed, nib sig, you have to spring for the spendier SAS model, and they only make it in the P229 and 220 currently.

What's on your list of "gotta have at least one"?

^^ Yeah, that. Also a 1911 Gov model. Off-topic for the pistol section, but I'd say a ruger 10/22 also.

    Are 1911s these days finicky?

Something to consider: people are a lot more apt to complain than they are to praise. That being said, I own both a 1911 and a Glock. I like them both equally.

    SIG P226 DAO to DA/SA?

I believe your friend can send it into sig, and they can convert it for him. According to this it'll cost around $200 for a DA/SA conversion http://www.sigsauer.com/upFiles/CmsContent/documents/2007-SIG-Customer-Shop-Price-List.pdf The cool thing is, they'll send you back the original parts...

    Update on the GSG 1911.

That's what I was thinking. As a stand-alone gun, it's a cool idea, but for those of us with 1911's that we already own and carry, a conversion kit might be a wiser purchase. It's cheaper, it can be ordered through normal means, and it allows you to practice trigger pull with your existing...

thinking about selling my Sig P229

Do you own other handguns that you prefer? If so, I would still hang onto it. I owned a non-railed P229 .40, while owning my Kimber 1911 and my Sig P226 .40. I found I didn't shoot the 229 as much as the others, sold it, and still regret selling it. It was very concealable, had reasonable power...

Have you seen handgun parts fail?

Kimber 1911: Slide stop developed a small crack. Also grip safety doesn't work, in the same manner as Ichiban's SA 1911. Still need to call them about it (been pretty busy lately). Glock 35: Front sight fell out during a range trip. Lost it, bought another, and it hasn't happened since (friend...
