I carry a Leatherman Supertool ALL the time. I can't count the times I've desperately needed it. My Supertool has always came through for me. I recall 1 time I was broke down on the side of the road and got going with nothing other than my Leatherman. YES they're worth it and much more!
I don't have my loading notes in front of me but my Contender w/super 14 barrel rechambered to 30-30ai was deadly with 125 Ballistic tips. STILL wishing I hadn't sold it.
What are you talking about? Surely not Remington model 788. The Remington model 788 is a multi lug rear locking action make by Remington and many (including me) consider them to be just as good as the model 700 or even better. You must be thinking about the model 798/799 series imported by...
Since I'm a HUGE fan of .22mag and have a few rifles so chambered, it's about all I use when small game hunting. A FMJ bullet out of a .22mag performs exactly (and leaves a wound channel) like a hv.22lr hp. You just have more penetration and range.
The Ruger LCR is a personal favorite of mine. It has a sweet trigger out of box. You can also get it in .357. My wife has a S&W model 442 and it shoots pretty good after I installed a Wolff spring kit in it.
All of my firearms-every last 1, has been customized or optimized for more accuracy, reliability, and to be more ergonomically friendly. For example all my handgun grips have to be oversize due to my extra large hands. All my handguns have had full action tunes & hand fitting done to them. They...
I've tried milk jugs filled with water, wet paper, dirt, and other tests and all I know is my backup gun, a Ruger LCP .380, is going to stay loaded with Critical Defense ammo. My main carry .45 is loaded with Winchester Ranger SXT 230 gr +P.
I feel being a gunsmith for 27+ years DOES qualify me express what I've learned along the way! If you don't like what I feel necessary to share, don't look.
I've gotten ahold of some bad lots of S&B in .45acp of which several failed to fire. PLEASE reconsider getting an .380 instead of the .25 before you actually have to use it & succeed in pissing somebody off.
The Marlin XS-7 is now available in .308 and is an astounding buy when you consider how well they shoot for 300$. I bought 1 for a buddy of mine as an gift, and wound up liking it so much I bought another 1 for an beater/loaner rifle.
The Winchester model 88 was/is indeed a VERY fine lever rifle. The ONLY downside is parts are pretty hard to come by if something breaks (which is unlikely).
The Marlin/Glenfield model 60 has came a long way since the past when they used to be jam-o-matics but the facts remain that the 10/22 is overall the most reliable .22 semiauto rifle ever designed. I've worked on model 60s numbering in the dozens over the years to even THINK about liking them...
