In IPSC/USPSA, Power Factor is:
Major = 165
Minor = 125
and is measured by the following formula:
Bullet weight (in grains) x velocity (in fps) / 1000
Example - 180 gr Rem UMC - .40 S&W typically yields -
180gr x 1000fps / 1000 = 180 power factor
+1 to that.
A friend of mine just came back from a 10 year lay-off to discover that he was still an "A" class shooter. Took him a while, but he finally caught back up.
The lesson is, don't quit!
My Glock 35 runs IPSC on:
180 grain Rem FMJ over >4.0 grains of Titegroup with WSP for minor - 143
or
180 grain Rem FMJ over 4.7 grains of Titegroup with WSP for major - 165
Interesting that I had this exact conversation with a fellow IPSC shooter after a match last Saturday. We were both picking up .40 brass and I asked him for his favorite recipe. He said he had been reloading since 1997 and rolled off his recipe which included small rifle primers.
I haven't...
I admit I have been a bad RO and have not read all the changes but here is what I found:
Actually, there are no changes to the production list. The G34 and G35 were on the 2004 list and are still there. The "C" models are still prohibited.
Ported barrels are still prohibited but ported...
And what a blast (literally) we have!!!
Jeff, hook up with me and J at the December match. We have been shooting the SWGC match on the first Sat, an IPSC/IDPA hybrid match at Old Hickory in Rocky Mount on the 2nd Sat and a hybrid match at Frank's on the 5th Sun (there is one in December woo...
OMG, thanks for the info. I have a 35 and recently started looking for a 34. I never even considered converting the 35 to 9mm with a Lone Wolf barrel.
Dang, I've gotta retract the feelers I put out for a 34.
Interesting that your first stage was 48 rounds. The IPSC rule book states the max round count on any IPSC stage is 32.
But personally, I love high round counts. When I shot L-10 I walked to the line with 61 rounds, and now that I shoot Limited, I walk up with 76 rounds.
Fun Fun.
