    Speakin of the devil

I recently opened a GB account and had similar questions about the $1 charge...since I do not use or even HAVE credit cards I queried the on-line help desk and they told me I could just send them a check or M.O. for the amount whenever I used the account.

Concealment garment/vest for CCW and IDPA?

I've found that good-quality cotton shirts, with long tails and worn untucked, in moderate temperatures cover my firearm just fine. I tend towards medium to large plaid patterns, which I find break up a "print" quite well if you're carrying IWB. If you use a "tuckable" IWB holster, plaid...

Concealment garment/vest for CCW and IDPA?

Fleece vests from the Gap. Nothing that says 'gun-carrier'. Mine has slash pockets with zippers to keep accessories close at hand. Works with jeans or 'business casual' attire.

Might be moving to Albuquerque, NM.... need some info

I lived in Las Cruces a back in the 1990's...grad school at NMSU and worked at WSMR. I liked th e south part of the statea lot better than Albaqwuirky. Still remember Chope's in La Union...best chile rellenos I ever had, and then there's the Owl in San Antonio for green chile cheeseburgers. I...

List of WWII ammunition factories in Texas?

Check w/ EPA in Dallas. I'd bet that any plants (all) sites are under DoD Installation Restoration Programs now. Sport45 references Lone Star AAP. Don't know that one, but there is Longhorn AAP in Texas as well.

    The UN-Shrouded Ejector Rod

agreed Guillermo, I've enjoyed your posts for a while, especially your exchanges with Old Fuff. I recognize the fun you two have at each others expense. I agree totally with your "honor roll" of posters, and would submit that rcmodel, Jim Watson, Jim Keenan, as well as yourself and a few...

    The UN-Shrouded Ejector Rod

Finally A return to civility at the High Road. I hope that thousands here will read this thread and learn how a really "High Road" conversation is engaged. I would offer commendation, but for me to congratulate you gentlemen on just being gentlemen is not necessary. However, thanks are...

    "Average" is how good, exactly?

Sorry, David E, but "average" is a calculation, not a "skill level". And now I'm out...as you could quickly calculate, with this post I have now surpassed my AVERAGE monthly post total. Good luck with this wind-chasing.

    "Average" is how good, exactly?

@ tipoc HA! yes, per #56. I'm w/ Ed Ames, I really don't care what anyone else has the ability to do...only what is my OWN average ability. @ David E: I think that "averages" must be calculated, and I think that if the criteria you propose for the test, along with your proposed sampling...

    S&W Model 64 revolver

How lucky am I? To receive responses from two of the members here whose opinions I respect most highly. Thank you, gentlemen, for your sound advice and good counsel. D.

    S&W Model 64 revolver

JG Sales is offering these trade-in revolvers at a pretty good price. All seem to be 4 inch, heavy barrel models with either square or round butts and are advertised as DAO, with bobbed hammers. I'd like to ask regarding the feasibility of buying one (or two) replacing the spurless hammer...

Dirt bag ruined this morning's hunt.....!

Amazing...it seems like most of you don't even read the original post and just pile on. It's Florida...not Arkansas. It's a wildlife management area...not open range or private land. In Missouri feral hogs can be shot on sight - open season. But even if you don't want to eat 'em, why...

Kahr CW9 vs Ruger LCR for CCW?

How many rounds have you fired through your pistol? I own a CW9 and experienced a few failures to return to battery during the recommended "break-in" period, but not a singlefailure of any type since then (over 1000 rounds fired since the initial 300 break-in). Take the pistol down as far...

Dumb CC'er makes us all look bad...

How about a license SUSPENSION for a public ND/AD? Not to be reinstated until proof of retraining, payment of a reasonable fine, payment of a new license fee, and passing a range test by the issuing agency? In MO, training certificates are issued by trainers who are private businesses, and...

    Good pawnshop finds?

    I'm with X.B. I like the pawn shops...poor man's bank. I bought my taurus 85, like new, $200 (1997); a S&W Model 915, fair condition, good shooter, $250 (1998); Mossburg 500A, like new (really!), $75 (1993). Haven't bought any firearms lately Yesterday I bought a pneumatic nailer...

    Alaska wild, need rifle

Well, you've gotten lots of advice, much of it very good. But I don't think anyone has hit on these points yet... Do more research before you go. Decide, at least to some extent, on where you will go, how long you will stay out, and when/where you expect to return return to "the world"...

    Hunting Rabbits

Makes perfect sense to me, Les. You'll want something fast-handling, since you'll likely have to react quickly and the range of your shots won't be all that long. The 20 gauge is good for lower recoil. Especially since you'll probably shot a lot more times than you'll kill. Don't know...
