    Blade steel ?

Is that true? I heard about stropping a blade against cardboard to polish it but how come such soft material can dull an edge?

Whats the most that you will pay for a knife?

I bought a Rat Cutlery RC-4 and a sharpshooter sheath for 150$ total and that's all I'll spend on a knife for now. I'm not against paying over 300$ for a Randall or a Busse, but I don't need any at the time.

Imorting and carrying a firearm for a short period of time

Well after reading the thing one more time I'm starting to understand what to do. Thanks, I'll be sending the form later. Seems to be not so hard to import a firearm in the end, now let's see if it get the permit.

Imorting and carrying a firearm for a short period of time

Wdlsguy, the form speaks of citizens returning to the US. Does that include citizens only returning for a short time, not wishing to reside permanently? But it does look like the right form. Do you think asking my embassy would facilitate things or give me problems?

Imorting and carrying a firearm for a short period of time

I'm trying to find what I need to do in order to bring my firearm in the US during my vacation. I'm looking at a form that is required for non-immigrant aliens importing a firearm for a short period of time but I'm not an alien, I'm a US citizen living abroad. What is the form required to import...

    Always mention Switzerland

I'm not really aware of the law, but it seems that pocket knives with locking blades are illegal to carry. Like guns you can "transport" them but not "carry" them. You can carry a SAK but not a Buck 110.

    Always mention Switzerland

It's strange to see an article from LR.com that goes on such lengths about how Switzerland is so great compared to the US, that we have such a small army and defense budget. From a writer on a libertarian site I would have expected a condemnation of the Swiss government for its compulsory...

    illegal poaching

I believe that you should have the right to shoot any animal on your property. In fact you should have the right to do whatever you want on your property as long as you don't cause any harm to others. I also believe that management would me more efficient if left to land owners. Government...

    Dogs?

Like Huckle said, you must be the leader. I never owned a dog but I know that it's not the breed or the temperament that matters most, but the way you handle your dog everyday. If the dog thinks he's the number one, he won't respect you and listen to you and he may not fight with his life to...

    Dogs?

I never owned dogs but I'm looking foward to do it when I build my house. I got interested in the Rhodesian Ridgeback and Boerboel South-Africain breeds. If I was to select a puppy now, it would be a Boerboel. I'd like an all-around working dog that could do some guard and pulling work. If...

    cold steel

You should look at the Scrapyard Knives website, they might have what you need for a good price.

(Next) friendliest nation for gun ownership?

I live in Switzerland and wouldn't recommend the country to any American. Indeed we have the friendliest gun laws of Europe but that's about all. You can't carry a loaded firearm and self-defense is prohibited. I worry more about being prosecuted for using my firearm than being assaulted. Apart...

    Is this laziness or justified?

Just to say, in Switzerland I pay 20 dollars for thirty minutes of shooting. My .357 can cost me up to 50 dollars (with a box of ammo) for only 30 minutes, and the range is obsolete and dark. I would gladly pay 14 dollars to shoot, it sounds like a great price to me.

Do you look like a soft target?

I read this thread and decided I should try some things discussed here like being more aware of my surroundings, watching my posture and scanning people with my eyes. I'm only 5'6 (1m68) but I weigh more than 160 pounds and I'm gaining weight (180 would be my short-term goal). I'm not cut but I...

Todd Jarrett - tactics video series

I only shot once with a .45 in a Springfield 1911 and the recoil wasn't very manageable. I weigh 160 lbs and my arms barely move when I shoot my .357 heavy revolver but it's another story when I try semi-autos. When I watch TJ shooting, his gun seem to stay straight on target shot after shot...

Buying a gun in the US and taking it back to Europe?

I wouldn't worry much about the Swiss side because you can buy firearms from non-licensed sellers (anybody) through a contract and it's not necessary to register firearms. I'm a Swiss resident (I'm not an alien, I'm Swiss) but don't have a home state in the US. Do you need to have a US residency...

Buying a gun in the US and taking it back to Europe?

I'm a US citizen, I just happen to live oversees. The gun market in Switzerland is ridiculous, a new Glock can cost over 1000 dollars and a SIG over 3000. That's why I would like to bring some guns back home. I also happen to work in aviation and I see guns going on planes frequently. I don't...

Buying a gun in the US and taking it back to Europe?

Hey, I'm going to the US soon and I taught about buying a gun over there and bringing it back to Switzerland. I've already discussed the subject with my gun store and they told me that importing guns from the US took months for them because of the bureaucracy. Would I have a problem with the...
