    .44 Magnum

44 Specials in a Gold Dot factory load or a Cor Bon load would be excellent. IMHO the CorBons recoil like a Hot 357 mag load and clock 1163 out of my chrono. The 44 Spl Gold Dots are slower but more manageable. The Gold Dots expand well at their slower velocity. Gold Dot 44 Spls are also...

    Ruger SP101 D/A Pull?

Stock SP would have at least a 10-12 pd pull DA. Slicked up with the hammer bobbed, 5-6pd pull DA. Enough adrenaline pumping and you could pull a truck with your trigger finger, need to know the exact details of what led up to the shooting and position of cop and victim/suspect. Plus a lot of...

Holster makers have really bummed me out!!!

The K frame Smith is too large. A Colt Detective Speial holster or Police Positive holster will work perfectly. I bought a Speed Scabbard and an IWB holster from DeSantis when I was working plainclothes. They worked great

    45 ACP Revolver WHY?????

I have the 625 JM and I have replaced the Miculek grips with a Hogue Wood RB that is checkered, and the gold bead front sight with an orange ramp. Last week at the indoor range where I shoot league I shot a 5 shot 1.67" group at 25 yds double action. The range maste witnessed it and that is...

Questions about buying SW 21 Classic

The 44 Spl shines as a reloader's gun. In the factory persuasion of ammo the Speer Gold Dot 200grainers are a top notch load. This round is also made in Blazer for those who don't reload. 44 Spl with a 240gr slug at 850 is a marvelous thing to use. The caliber is extremely accurate and...

    4" Redhawk or 5" 629 Classic?

The best group I ever shot with a revolver in my life was with a 4" GP 357 in target Grey. 11/16ths of an inch outside to outside. Six shot group at 25 yds and the load was a Hornady 140JHP with a load of 296 under it, all lit up with a CCI Mag primer. The Tart Grey finish was on the internal...

    Grips for a 629

Check Hogue's site on the internet. They do offer wood grips without any finger grooves or with one finger groove. I have medium size hands and I like the Hogues with one finger groove.

    Model 325

I have the 625 JM 4" 45 and the TR 22-4 45 ACP and I'm saving my pennies for the 325 TRR. This concept of full moon clips and the rounds are 45 Auto is just too cool! My 357s have been stored. Between 45 Auto wheelies and 45 Kimbers the 357s don't stand a chance.:)

Question regaurding S&W 625-8 JM Butt type

I switched from the Miculek grips to a Hogue RB rubber for competition shooting and I like that configuration for fast double action work. I also ordered a drop in red ramp front sight to assist in a smooth draw as the Gold Bead which works great for target work; chews up my holsters in a...

Smith Model 22, Model 1917 Classic

I have a TRR Model 22 and it is quickly becoming my carry revolver. I've been completely won over to 45 ACP revolvers. It was the full moon clip that was the clincher.

How about revolver grips made from aluminum or micarta?

I have a set of Micarta grips on a Model 1911 that I truly enjoy. Look at Collins Grips found at Inventor's Colony.com for some nice looking Micarta REvo grips.

    Wheel Gun for Concealed Carry?

Carry an SP 101 in 357 almost exclusively now in the civilized world. Compact, moderate weight and size, and 357 punch that is accurate with me shooting it. Carry it IWB winter and summer.

    My new toy

Evyl: Smiths just get sweeter with the shootin! Enjoy a nice piece of American ingenuity. I shoot 44 Spls in mine almost exclusively. targets don't know the difference between a 250gr SWC at 1000 fps or a 250 at 1,200. But my hand does. ENJOY:D

    S&W 624 Opinions Good, Bad?

624 4" is there anything better for an all around handgun if your reload. If you don't then 44 Mag Mtn Gun is essentially the same beast with more versatility. 45 Colt is a working proposition but reloading will help round out the value of the caliber.

.44mag, .44spl or .44spl+P ammo for home defense?

Use either the Cor Bon 165 44Spl at 1160 and very effective, it is a Sierra bullet made especially for Cor Bon. Or either the Gold Dot in 44Spl or 44 Mag in the Short Bbl loading. Having known Elmer Keith personally and shot thousands of his 44/250 SWC design, this load will go right through...

If you HAD to choose: S&W #60 or Ruger SP101?

I have had 4 SPs and I currently own an SP 357 with 2.25" BBL DAO action that has been polished and smoothed; It sports a Meprolight night sight and a Pachmayr grip. This is a 357 shooter that works much better than any J Frame from Smith. Don't get me wrong I like J frames if I'm packing a...
