    High Vis stripper clip mod?

Mods, if this doesn't really belong here, sorry in advance. I've been messing about with an SKS lately, and now have it in good working order, as well as 922(r) compliance. But now I'm wondering: I've put bright paint on the backs of my stripper clips to reduce the likelihood of losing them...

    Wal-Mart Ammo

I'm thinkin' slim pickings in certain areas... then again it seems the pistol ammo that's most readily available is Tula. *shrug* I'll buy up all the $4.69 boxes of 7.62x39 I can!

Stay FAR from Wild Bill's in Abilene, TX

Oh, ok. I kind've figured it would put a dealer at risk of losing their license; I didn't know if they might be subject to any other sort of penalty if that sort of thing was caught by the inspector.

Stay FAR from Wild Bill's in Abilene, TX

I don't know if you're familiar with it, but our one dedicated class 3 shop, Patriot Gunworks, seems to have gone AWOL. Forgive my ignorance, but I've never heard of this happening before; just how bad could/would the fallout from that be?

Stay FAR from Wild Bill's in Abilene, TX

InkEd, when one of their main draws is selling guns, and the "pawn" part is kind've on the side, the classification's kinda fuzzy.

Stay FAR from Wild Bill's in Abilene, TX

It seems those guys don't know the meaning of the phrase "do not call registry," nor do they acknowledge polite requests such as "Please stop calling me, I'm not interested in prescription medication." I try to turn a blind eye to the odd social or business faux pas, but at the same time... you...

Stay FAR from Wild Bill's in Abilene, TX

I just asked "Are you sure this is labeled right? The receiver says it's a Mosin. Could you double-check on the price of this for me?" then he got his manager. I'm usually pretty cool to people working sales anywhere (Unless they call me from overseas three times a week to sell me deeply...

Stay FAR from Wild Bill's in Abilene, TX

Hey, guys. Figured I'd take a minute out of my day to share another amusing/idiotic story with y'all. I mentioned this chain of pawn shops before without naming names here in the past. Stupidly, I went to another of their four locations in the city the other day, and spotted an odd rifle...

    Favorite Shooting Pictures/Video's

I lol'd... Can't believe the commenters in that video are ripping on the kid for taking the shot he did. Back on topic. I always enjoyed the video of night-firing gatling guns.

    Should I have paid?

Blue, no amount of argument changes the fact that the buyer was unable to make a deal with the dealer. Speculative though it may be, the fact of the matter remains, it's the dealer's job to make the sale. Failure to do so means no profit for him.

    Should I have paid?

All right. Here's my take on why the OP is in the right. Feel free to argue with my logic on this one. 1) OP went through proper channels (4473, etc) to rifle transferred back into HIS possession prior to the sale, or any deal being struck outside the shop. 2) The dealer's commission isn't to...

    Mossberg 500AB forend question

"AB" model just means it's a 500A that was sold at a "discount house" or retailer. Like Walmart, Sears, K-Mart, etc. No real design difference.

    Mossberg 500AB forend question

First off, you really shouldn't NEED to remove the magazine tube unless there's feed issues that can be pinpointed to the mag itself and not the elevator/cartridge stop(s). With that said, you should be able to remove the trigger assembly, cartridge interruptor(s) and then move the forend/bolt...

    Taurus handguns

I've got a Model 85. I don't see why there's so much hatred for these things. The only issue I've had is the screw holding the cylinder release lever backed out a bit after repeated trips to the range. So I put a tiny bit of Loctite 242 (blue) on that screw. Problem solved.

what's the worst gun you've ever owned?

For me, SCCY CPX1 9mm. Trigger was crap, at best. Safety was poorly placed and designed. And after 100 rounds downrange from being a brand new gun, the guide rod looked like someone attacked it with a bottle of Wild Turkey and a Dremel... Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to enjoy the first real...

    So, was it worth it?

Or in my case, visit local pawn shops and see what kinda "junk" guns they're selling dirt cheap, because it's not shiny or black. Picked up my Taurus M85 for the same shop for $225. Old model, circa '92, before the integrated locks were implemented. Looked nearly new.

    So, was it worth it?

You forgot to mention the laser and bayonet as well. I never thought I'd see the day I'd put a vertical grip on ANYTHING, but with the stock folded, the vert grip gives better access to the forend (otherwise you've got to reach around the stock) and with the PG it actually feels slightly more...

    So, was it worth it?

$90 for the gun itself, yeah. The Duracoat was free since I happened to have some leftover from refinishing something for a friend. The 5-position grip I got from CDNN for $20. The stock and forend, from ATI, were $110. So in all, I've "invested" $220 in it. That said, what's your $500 gun?

    So, was it worth it?

Dave: That was kinda the point. Wood's nice, but the wood on that thing was beyond refinishing... when I took the forend off, chunks of it fell away. My original intention WAS to just refinish the whole thing and be done with it.

    So, was it worth it?

JEB, glad I haven't been met with disapproval yet. Mariachi: Yeah. I hadn't considered that. D'oh. Don't ask me for a justification for the desert tan other than... well. How many desert tan pump guns have YOU seen?
