    Woodchucks 2018

I don't go looking for woodchucks but I've taken 3 this year and will probably get a few more before summer is done. Shot the first one in my pasture using an AR-15. Took the other two in my neighbor's yard using an M&P 15-22. They burrow under her outbuildings and I get rid of them for her...

    Hand primers and arthritis

Been using my RCBS bench primer since the mid '70s and intend on using it for at least a couple more decades.

Cleaning an old ruger 22 auto

I made this web page so I wouldn't forget how to do it since I only shoot & clean my Mark 1 rather infrequently. Works for me. ;) Ruger Mk1 Disassembly & Assembly

My new rifle project is finished and sighted in

That's a nice looking rifle....congrats on a nice setup. I had to chuckle a bit when I read your comment referencing "Govt. Security rated". With all the issues with government security in recent years, maybe a new "standard" needs to be developed. ;) Again, nice looking setup.

    Amazing deal at Cabelas

Nice find. But the person that really lost out was the one who sold it to Cabelas. While mismarked, so to speak, you know they made money selling it to you. Again, nice find. ;)

    Preferred rifle for coyotes??

If you are looking at an AR platform but want a bullet with a good B/C for wind, etc., consider the 6.5 Grendel.

    Scale recommendation please...

Tom, I've only bought one electronic scale, from RCBS. It is their Chargemaster 1500 scale. I didn't buy others because this one has worked like it should. They typically retail a bit under $200. They can be configured with an add on unit for dispensing powder too. So I guess you could say...

The Perfect AR for Coyote Hunting

TIMC, I agree 100%. The 6.5 Grendel makes for a great varmint rifle and does equally well on whitetails. Using the same rifle for both just makes sense, IMO. ;)

Why are people dumping their Springfield XDS

The post recall trigger on mine wasn't what I wanted. It took about 20 minutes (maybe it was 30, I forget) to work it down to a manageable weight. It wasn't hard to do. Some folks either won't spend a few minutes on a search engine to find out how to reduce the XDs trigger pull or they don't...

    7.62x39 sub

It is a known fact that some powder's do not do well when a reduced charge is used....and by not do well, I mean it can create a dangerous situation. For me, I would not be reducing the charge weight of an unknown factory powder in hopes I could make a light load. I believe the Herter's...

    Reloading Supplies - Lessons Learned?

Or, assuming you use a smartphone, just bring up the powder manufacturer's website and look up the powder. I've done that countless times to determine if I did or did not want to make a powder purchase.

    Dillon Rant

Jim, Just got my monthly Dillon catalog in the mail today. In the "We READ our Mail!" section, the 1st entry was from a guy who had "sent back my old, very sick Square Deal B" press. They overhauled it for free and had it back to him within a weeks time. He indicated it worked like it was...

    Dillon Rant

Been running a 650 for a number of years. Have yet to break a part....never had to call Dillon to ask how to make it work. I set it up per the manual on the 1st day and it has ran well since then except when I let a friend use it. Never let a friend use your stuff, especially lawn mowers and...

    6.5 Grendel cast?

I'm shooting 95 to 123 gr jacketed bullets anywhere from 2450 FPS to 2900 FPS. I'm not sure what kind of velocities you are considering. Having said that, I've done no casting for it and don't see myself doing so in the future.

First try at 300yds with hunting rifle

1.5 MOA is good for a hunting rifle....and at 300 yds.....your group is certainly good enough to do in a deer, no doubt about that. Nicely done!

Is there an annual cycle in gun prices?

Back in the '70s, I worked part time in a small mom & pop gun shop in VA. Every spring, shortly before taxes were due, the owner would stock up on used guns from the folks selling them to make their payments. He would sell them off the rest of the year until he again stocked up on them during...

    What's Blue Dot good for?

I used to load .41 Mag using Blue Dot for my 14" T/C Contender. Many years after I sold it, they came out with their warning. Sure worked well when I was loading for it.

    anyone own an Auto Mag?

Back in the '70s, when I was in the Navy, a shipmate I worked with had one. I formed some brass for it and then loaded a box of 50. I shot a mag or two in it. I was not impressed at the time. It was big and awkward, as previously mentioned. I might feel differently about it today if I shot...
