    Marlin .35 Rem

Shot my father's Remington 600 in .35 Rem a few years ago, found it extremely pleasant and accurate! I am more of a lever/Marlin fan, and as such have been keeping my eye out for a 336 in .35, so I could have a "connection" with the old man.

Does the CMP really take that long?

I put my order in for a CMP Special right after the big panic started. I forget how long I waited, it was a few months but now that I have it and looking back, it wasn't that bad. The best part was learning that it shipped, and getting the tracking number which would tell you the day that it...

I'm hesitant to even ask this question

Guns just don't make good (monetary) investments. I mean it's nice if you buy something and when you decide to part with it, you've made some money. If your goal is to make some cash, you want to stick to real investments, such as commodities, stocks, or solid advice. Maybe you make a few...

    H&R 44mag what's the recoil like

Not the exact same gun, but I remember shooting my friend's .44 mag Marlin 1894 (my first experience with the cartridge in any format) and being kinda shocked at how hard that thing thumped me! And I'm a thin-framed 30-something with plenty of experience shooting 75-100 rounds of 12 gauge in a...

    Savage Stocks from Boyd's

I put a Boyd's laminate on a Stevens 200. Another satisfied customer. Dropped right in, well finished, the recoil pad was well fitted and even with the butt (thin rubber, but nice, and mine is only .223). I got my initials put on mine and it looks really good, but I kind of wish I hadn't, as...

    Marlin Model 60 optic?

Went with the Leupold 2-7x28 on my 795SS. Decided at that point to pony up for something nice, considering I would be looking through the .22 scope more often than any other I own. Mounted it in Warne rimfire rings. Neither have been deficient in any way.

Rear Sight for Flat Top AR

I have been very happy using the LaRue BUIS as my primary. Super solid, easily adjustable, throw lever for removal keeps it versatile if I decide to add to my setup.

Win. 70 Safari or Alaskan model?

I would get the Safari Express (in .458 myself), then take it down to Briley (down the stree from me) to have a red recoil pad fitted and trimmed to my LOP. Then put a Montana Sling on it and call it good. I happened to be day-dreaming about safaris lately and I that's what I would do.

Do CMP guns ship with UPS or Fedex?

I took that day off from work and marathoned Band of Brothers while I waited. :D Rifle came FedEx Express and the ammo can and bayonet came FedEx Ground on a different truck, same day. Both came early in the morning. Better than Christmas.

    MilSurp 22LR Training Rifles

I had a wz 48 for a few years. Polish single-shot trainer done up to look like a Mosin. Very heavy, accurate, and a lot of fun. Weirds people out at the range when they think you're showing up with the real boomstick. They're uncommon, I have seen them in all sorts of conditions, but usually...

How difficult/expensive would it be to have a bolt action in .35 rem built?

Highly enjoy my father's Remington 600 in .35 Rem. Great looking rifle, great round. I am currently looking for a 336C in .35 to match his.

    Planning out my first AR15.

I just put an order in for my first AR as well (a plain 6920), so I am also interested in this topic. Hope you don't mind if I piggyback some questions in here. Are any of these AR wrenches or tools needed for the average user who will be using the rifle "as-is" and not doing multiple builds...

    Bolt 223

Stevens 200. Cheap, accurate, very customizable. I put a Timney on mine and stuck it in a Boyd's laminate.

Anybody like .32acp just for fun?

I do! I have a Kel-Tec P32 that I bought for a range toy. I have no intention of CCing it. I just wanted a mouse gun to enjoy. I also find the unique engineering and background of Kel-Tec to be interesting. So far I haven't been disappointed. I enjoy .32 quite a bit. I don't mind paying...

Difference between a 1907 sling and a Turner NM sling?

From what I can gather, the Turner NM can be had in longer lengths, the holes are numbered, option of biothane or leather, and the keepers are "heavy duty." Am I right? I have a CMP M1 coming to me in a few days, would like to get it something appropriate. I don't know how much "serious"...

    Sig M11-A1

To me the big difference is this new M11 does not have the rail that the new P229s have. I think they look nicer.

    Any Mini-14 experts?

That an offer? :D I'm not an expert but I can test them out. Also send about 100 rounds with each one so I can make absolutely sure they are functional.

    Garand Group (The)

Ordered a Special grade in .30-06, my order was in the pile they got on 1/2/13. Got my DBU and they cashed my check, but still waiting. Didn't notice the tiny print on the form that said a check might delay up to two weeks. Noticed others that ordered Specials around the time that I did with...

Opportunity to buy a new Marlin 39a. Good idea?

The good thing about 39As is if you have a quarter in your pocket you can break it open right there. The pictures I've seen of the new ones have ridiculous machining marks inside of them, I would be careful. If everything checks out though, terrific rifle!

Did you ever win something from the NRA?

Yeah, I don't have any high hopes, but I like sitting there picking out my "21 Gun Salute" or whatever it is that month and sending it off. I always think about how ridiculous it would be to go down to the local FFL and have just a pile of boxes full of guns for me. Ever notice the envelopes...
