No, I tumble outside the garage with an extension cord too. I figure better safe than sorry, so trying to minimize the potential of lead exposure seems like a good idea. I do store my tumbler in my garage under my reloading bench though, so maybe many here do that as well.

    Powder Volume

There can be noticeable variations in the weight of cases even with the same brand, let alone different makes of brass. I wouldn't rely on another person's completed cartridge weight to put your mind at ease or not.

what polish do you add to your cleaning tumbler media?

I just came across this thread which has an interesting post regarding brass polishes with ammonia in them... http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?t=334834 Scroll down to the 10th post!

    Single Stage Reloading...

CP, Not loony at all. I enjoy crafting precision rounds for my bolt gun a lot. It's not always about quantity. Even if I get a progressive press down the line for bulk production for certain firearms, the SS will be what I turn to for my bolt guns. The advantages have been mentioned...

    Single Stage Reloading...

I use a single stage Redding Big Boss 2 for reloading .308 rifle cartridges, but the method of de-priming is the same as you would find with a turret style press. The de-priming function is performed by the neck sizing die I use. Since I'm shooting with a bolt action rifle, the cases get...

Residents Terrified Over Idea Of Deadly Weapon On Streets

This month's Harper's magazine index said that somewhere between 49% and 51% of NJ residents would like to move out of the state! I forget the exact figure, but it's roughly 50%. I'd want to move too.

    Best chronograph for the $$$?

I have an Oehler 35P. It took a while to find a good used one. Several came and went very quickly before I was able to jump on them. It took me about 3 months to find mine. I love it. A buddy of mine and I went to the range today to chronograph some test loads that we are working up. He...

Anybody know what powder Federal uses for GMM .308

Don, I hear what you're saying, and you might be right about the powder difference being part of the difference, but I do think the expanded size of my fire formed cases could be a contributing factor. I'm still perplexed by how a friend of mine gets the exact same MV with the exact same...

Anybody know what powder Federal uses for GMM .308

Now why would that ever happen? Looking at a kernel of powder under a microscope would hardly be risking "blowing myself up." My interest is not to try to ID a powder so that I can abandon all common sense and disregard recommended load minimums and maximums. If hat is the impression you got...

Anybody know what powder Federal uses for GMM .308

Well, t sure seems similar on a macro scale. I need to find a microscope! A friend of mine who shoots a lot of precision long range competitions finds IMR 4895 to produce the exact same results in his "clone" version of FGMM. He finds 42.7 grains of IMR 4895 produces the same MV as FGMM for...

What is the most dangerous predator?

Supposedly the animal with the highest testosterone levels is a Bull Shark. http://www.pelagic.org/overview/time2001cover_a.html Read the 2nd paragraph under the Bull Shark section.

Anybody know what powder Federal uses for GMM .308

I took apart a FGMM 168 grain bullet today to measure the powder load. A friend told me he had done the same a while back, and it measured 42.7 grains. I found the same exact powder charge today in the bullet I disassembled: 42.7 grains. Subjectively, the powder looks very similar to IMR...

    Made a couple reloading videos

Jamz, nice job! I watched all 5. I don't have a progressive press yet, I'm just using a single stage Redding Big Boss II for precision rifle hand loads at the moment. I will be getting into progressive reloading for .45 ACP, and some other handgun loads at some point in the future, and Ill...

What is the most dangerous predator?

I think on land the Kodiak and the Polar Bear are both top predators in their respective ranges. In the sea, I'd go with giant squid. Those things have gone after whales, and not just calves, but mature whales. An interesting trivia question... What animal has the highest...

    Dust Cover for LoadMaster?

I'm using a black plastic garbage bag at the moment. It's cheap, easily replaceable, easy to source, and keeps the dust off. I live in a low humidity area though, and I also don't cinch the bag tightly around the bottom of my press, which is a Redding Big Boss II. It may not look quite as...

VonFatman, thank you very much for the welcome. I have to say that I love my safe too. Primersinmyshoe, thank you as well. I noticed that your bench for tumbling is the same design, in your post earlier in this thread. BTW, that's an incredible reloading room you've built for yourself. Very...

I'm new to reloading, and while setting up my reloading bench, I found this thread to be invaluable. I got some great ideas from all the setups people have shown. Thanks for a great thread, and a great site. I just completed my shelving today, and resized/deprimed my first 100 cases of...
