308, plastic with steel base. steel base goes about 1/2" up plastic
lettering on headstamp very small and hard to read
7.62 x 51 then ten digits of letters and numbers
almost ruined lee decapper and brass hammer trying to get primer out. wouldn't budge...
shopping for a marlin in 45/70 and want to make sure it has the ballard type rifling for shooting cast bullets.
think some earlier rifles were mfg with non-ballard rifling and faster twist for jacketed bullets.
any way to identify?
